It looks like Harry Kane would be the IDEAL option for United this summer. He’s Premier League proven, he’s world class, he would fit well in Ten Hag’s system and, his poor injury record is actually a bit of a myth! But despite all these positives which make Kane seem like a perfect option there’s things that we need to make sure we consider the other side. Let’s have a look at the worry with signing Harry Kane…

  1. He's also 29 and will be 30 by the time he signs (if he ever does). He won't come cheap either. 6 years ago, he'd have been a no-brainer but now, for anything more than 30m, I'd have to hard pass on signing Harry Kane for United.

  2. I've got a funny feeling we'll go for Kane. Despite his age I think we can get at least 4 years out of him scoring 30 goals a season. Ten Hag likes his strikers to link the play drop deep & Kane does that perfectly. I would also sign Evan Ferguson aswell for the future

  3. No way for 100mil for Kane. 60 mil. Ok. I want to sign. Please go for Ferguson. Our squad is full with 30s year old. We need to rebuild with younger players for next 4 or 5 years.

  4. PL proven or not I'd rather not see him at United. Too many things about Kane as a player I don't like to warrant the astronomical price tag that could be better spent elsewhere.

  5. Still in all fantasies about getting Osimhen “no less than 200 M. anyway”and any Napoli players? Sorry but, that’s deluded!

  6. Signing Kane is the sort of thing Jose would do on one of his three year missions to win a single league title before the team collapses, and he moves on.
If we are going to spend another ungodly amount of money on a single player, it should be for longevity as much as ability.

Ten Hag is going to be become a victim of his own success if fans aren't careful. We are doing so well this year that people will forget that there is still a three year project in the works.
Harry Kane is not going to suddenly give us the strength of quality in depth that we need across the midfield and centre backs to go win a league next year.
Of course, that applies to any big money striker, but the way I see it is that we will do better in the long run if we go after someone younger who will be hitting their peak around the time that squad is looking nearer to being a title winning prospect.

The thing about City and recent Liverpool teams is that if one of their players went down or got another suspension for a second silly red card, they've had players of comparable stature and ability to bring and provide top quality cover. When we lose Varane or Casemiro for a game we look shaky… if we don't have either of them playing… like at home against Fulham on Sunday… we need a 2 man advantage to win!

Maybe that all looks different next year? We lost Eriksen early in the season, and Donny JUST as he looked like he was finally starting to show his potential. Do they come back and fill that space in the midfield mix? Maybe McTominay gets back to his form at the start of this season and comes good?

Whatever happens, it still makes me go back to the same question I've been asking every time Casemiro has been unavailable… "Why the fucking hell did we sell Jimmy Garner for less than the price of a pint and a kebab???" Everton broke him as soon as they got him out of the box…

  7. You buy Kane and Ferguson, one for right now, one for next.

Ferguson would get games, plenty of games, I reckon you could get both of them for a combined fee of around £150m… about what we'd have to pay to gamble on just Osimhen.

  8. So much more risk with Osimhen. Scoring in the premier league is the hardest thing in club football . Kane has done that in poor Spurs teams . I’ve no doubt he would continue to do that in a United shirt and compliment the system and players around him.
Age vs cost is the concern. But at whatever price he’d take us close to titles immediately.
With Osimhen the concern is obvious. Young and more susceptible to dealing with the pressures playing for United brings . Would he adapt to a new country, team , pressure, expectation etc right away or how long would be acceptable for the transition period .
At the price we’d have to pay to get him he’d need to produce immediately like Haaland has .
    Tough call

  9. While we have seen players last longer lately and Kane could be one of those 100 mil for a 29 year old is still a big risk. I'd rather go for Vlahovic as can get him on the cheap with Juve in trouble or if spend big Osimhen/ L Martinez. Given FFP and the need for another 8, backup to Casimero and possibly goalkeeper I'd go for Vlahovic.

  10. Harry Kane no doubt he's a good player worldclass striker but lets be honest does he have this winning mentality, we see it all the time when he play for England and Spurs, he bottles it. that's my only worry with him and also do you want to sign another 30 year old striker? we have been signing old strikers for years Zlatan, Lukaku, Cavani and Ronaldo. e haven't replace Cavani and Ronaldo yet. If Martial leaves we have to replace him too. so i think going for a young strikers and build the whole team with them is the right solution.

  11. I agree with the point already raised elsewhere in the comments: we need to be building for longevity; players in their early-to-mid 20s, such as Osimhen. We cant be paying big money for players in and around 30yo (ok, Casemiro is an exception) anymore. Without woshing to sound arrogant i think ETH thinks the same

  12. Kane finishes all types of chances in textbook fashion. Perhaps the most complete finisher in world football. However, I'd rather the utd #9 be pacey and more dynamic and fluid. Someone like Tony Martial but consistent and fit.

  13. I have been saying this for a while. But i believe both Kane and oshimen would be good signings. But you need to bring in a youngster as backup for Kane. And a more experienced head like weghorst if you sign oshimen. So honestly if we can do that it just depends on price for me. I think Kane fits better. But oshimen seems to have an insane ceiling
