How did Lionel Scaloni Turn This Argentine Team Into a Power House Beast?

Lionel Messi’s Argentina barely lost the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil as Scaloni played for Atalanta in Italy. Every Argentine was sad and begged for another chance at football’s greatest reward. However, his fate was to see Argentina win the World Cup in Qatar after beating France on penalties.

Lionel Messi scored a brace and converted a penalty, while Kylian Mbappe scored a hat trick. After extra time ended 3-3, Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties in the FIFA World Cup 2022 final in Lusail.

Scaloni was in the dugout with Jorge Sampaoli in Russia as Argentina qualified for the 2018 World Cup. He has only managed the young team at his Mallorca amateur club. A year later, Scaloni and Pablo Aimar became Argentina’s interim managers. He guided the squad to third in the 2019 Copa América in Brazil.

After losing to Saudi Arabia in their initial match in Qatar, Argentina recovered to reach the final. Scaloni gets credit for inspiring the squad throughout the campaign, despite the attention given to Messi and Alvarez.

  1. I have two things to say..
first: It's true… if you want to get far you need some pincharrata blood in your team, like Bilardo, Sabella or Scaloni (each played the final match in a World Cup, Bilardo did it twice)
    second: France

  2. For past 15 years Argentina never had real „Superstars“ except Messi and Aguero. Players u named were solid but nothing more. The way u phrased that made it sound like Argentina was as packed as France is now. Good players going forward but never worldclass (except Messi Aguero) and seriously lacked in Defence and Midfield

  3. Scaloni is great but he almost blew the WC final by pulling Di Maria off too early — another ten minutes of Di Maria and Argentina would have won in regular time. But I'm not complaining.

  4. I like this football style of Scaloni. To me, this team is basically in 2 triangles and the block of pressing, the first triangle is the 2 centre-backs and Dibu. The 2nd one is the brain of this team(Enzo Fernandez-Mac Allister-Messi), Enzo and Mac Allister gave the tempo and cover the other players defensively, Messi the playmaker. The block of pressing is composed of the fullbacks(Acuna, Molina)-De Paul-Julian Alvarez, their running offered lot of solution in attack and their aggressive pressing kept the team safe. Scaloni used either Paredes, Lisandro Martinez, Di Maria or Papu as the 11th player according to the formation(442, 352 or 433). That was extremely efficient.

  5. 2018 mbappe:- i am a Speedster in the tournament

2022 argentina diffence :- ok you can run without the ball😎😎

That guy was not in the picture….but when angel Di Maria gone mbappe showed who he was….but it was late😉😉

  6. Really people should ask for ex players to organize teams, because old people treating the players like objects with stats don't serve for anything, a computer is more useful. Really he took risks and got rewards, if something doesn't work the team can't just switch to plan B or plan C, the team is a living being and the coach changes the things that doesn't work based of things that could work without ruining the game for other players.

  7. Messi had renewed fire in him this WC2022, unlike the previous ones. I'd like to think that Scaloni had a huge part in that and what he had ignited for Messi. The loss against SA was just a minor speed bump cause after that, they went full speed towards the final defeating France. Also, you mentioned missing pieces- well Emi is also the missing piece of the superb GKs that have emerged from this WC. He contributed greatly during the penalties and had very important saves during their matches. Notably, his save from Kolo Muani's strike during the final game vs France. If it wasn't for that save, ARG is done for.

  8. 1 loss in 43 games and it was in the group stage , AND they would have won it had they stayed onside for 1 of the 3 dissalowed goals(and did for the 3rd one that was wrongfully dissalowed)

  9. Great episode! Thank you for featuring the coach of the World Cup 2022 champion team, Argentina! Definitely, he is the reason why Messi had a great team playing with him! Kudos to Lionel Scaloni!

  11. Scaloni is a humble guy. Messi humble. Di Maria also. Argentina is full of humble guys that you won't hear say things anyhow. They were destined for greatness.

  12. We, the loyal fans of Argentina never lost our hope, yes we were a bit concerned and tensed but we had faith on our squad. Saudi people said they also supported Argentina in the final. Listen bro we don't need your support, we won't forget how you disrespected and mocked our Goat.

  13. Scaloni believed in Messi's magic even at 35 years of age, his decisions of having a mix of youth and experience made Argentina conquer the football world

  14. Technically and emotionally Scaloni is the best coach of Argentina national team. Back to back win WC, Finalisma and Copa. More to come. Be calm. 😀

  15. Once Argentina won the copa América in Brazil I knew they would be world champions. They just needed to win a final to get their confidence and belief back like the old days.

  16. Here in Argentina he was badly criticized by lobbyists that like to refer themselves as "press". Among the general public there was scepticism about him… Now he is not less than a national hero
