  1. I think we shouldn't look at this as "we either play Sargent or Dike, which is it gonna be?" We should look at this as an opportunity to play horses for courses. And crucially if we are in a match where things aren't quite clicking on attack, we have 2 very different strikers to swap for each other to change up the pace of play. And this adaptability is especially important for tournament style football like the World Cup.

  2. Having two good options, who are very different, gives Greg some tactical wiggle room, but I think it's Josh's job for now. Dike needs to prove his run isn't a fluke and do something for the USMNT this summer. I think there will be more clarity by world cup qualifiers.

  3. Big clubs sign players with potential. Timo Werner only scored 6 goals in 33 games, in his last season for Stuttgart but Red Bull Leipzig still bought him.

  4. I mean Sargent certainly fits in with the way a lot of big teams seem to want to play right now with the gegenpressing or whatever. Be nice if he could score more though,

  5. I like Josh Sargent's skill set a ton. His hold up for a smaller forward is great. His movement is great. But really good players find a way, with bad teams mind you, to score. He just hasn't done that just yet. Now I like the physicality of Dike. He is reasonably quick, super strong, can finish in a ton of ways. Right now I would argue that with Pulisic and Reyna, hell even McKennie and Dest serving good balls to Dike we don't necessarily need Sargent's technique right now if he is not scoring. Sure Championship isn't as good as Bundesliga, but a striker's confidence comes from goals. He's scoring and Sargent isn't. Let's get Sargent to a team where he gets some help, and maybe he decisively secures his spot.

  6. I like Sargent’s technical ability and it’s nice he can defend but that doesn’t make him an effective “forward”. Good Forwards find a way to score goals. They live for it. Barnsley may be in a lesser league but it’s not as tho they were the “Man City of the EFL” creating a lot of chances. Dike has helped create opportunities and puts himself in positions to make something out of nothing. If nothing else he will simply pick up the ball and take defenders on one on one to create his opportunities. For all the talk of WB being a bad team this is what Sargent is not doing enough of for me. He lacks the hunger and instincts of a real goal scorer who wants to attack the goal. Perhaps he’d be better as a winger or CM.
When the USMNT does play again will “but his technique… but his hold up play…” and etc be enough for fans if Sargent lacks what it takes to find the back of the net?
As well, it’s kind of insulting to limit Dike to backup, expecting him to “clean up the mess” in the final 15-20 mins IF he’s in fact a more reliable goal scorer that deserves the start.

  7. I think it is Sargeant. Sergeant allows us to play a false 9. I think that helps us play a high press, helping out Brooks who has his own questions as to his partner will be. This also helps Reyna and Pulisic free roaming space to cut inside, things they are both good at. But I think who this helps the most is Musah. Giving him another person to make runs off of and to make use of Sargeant's speed with give and gos. Dike will come in, maybe first guy off the bench every game. But I think Sergeant gives us a better chance to succeed

  8. This is still Josh sargents job. Until dike shows out more and dethrones sargent then it’ll be Josh Sargent in every of my starting XIs. I also do believe siebatcheu has a shot too and is a more refined version of daryl dike and showed out well vs Northern Ireland w the ability to combine and get chances and he occupied defenders really well.

  9. I think Dike is a better striker and Sargeant plays better in the Berhaler style. But I like the idea of Dike s a super sub! Bring him around the 60th minute to run over and around a tired defense.

  10. I would choose Dike. He has an exceptional ability to keep his balance on the turn. His technical ability and first touch will improve.
    Never been impressed by Sargent.

  11. This is a no brainer. Dike strikes fear in defenders. He is a beast. His strength and pace are unreal. I’m not sure bottom Bundesliga is much better than the Championship, either. Soccer coaches think they can outsmart the market? You take Southgate in England starting Saka over Grealish, Foden, Calvert-Lewin. That English team should not have lost to Italy.
