  1. Ok Alexi Lalas is wrong to say Weston is too good for Leeds but is just about right when he says that Leeds Utd was the first English club he heard of back in the seventies because, at that time, Leeds would have been the first of England's modern-day super clubs (and they were truly great between 1965-75). Followed by Liverpool (1976-90) and then Manchester Utd (1994-2010) with Arsene Wengers Arsenal giving Utd a good run for their money for about 10 of those years.

Leeds is actually a good fit for Weston Mckennie because it really is a sleeping giant, meaning that it has a huge neutral fan base. Leeds were so huge when I was a kid in the early 70s, they probably had more fans in London where I grew up than in the city of Leeds itself (sum 200 miles away).

For example, Newcastle Utd are a big club largely because they have a big stadium (the 7th biggest in the Premiership with a capacity of 52,000) and a passionate local fan base ("local fanbase" being the operative word). Yes, Newcastle are doing great things at the moment but if Leeds starts to have a similar kind of success, you will see the difference.

Leeds has the potential to outreach even the likes of Man City who, much like Newcastle, have never been one of the more popular supported English clubs able to boast many many thousands of fans outside of its city limit, certainly not anything like the fans support of big city rivals Man Utd can.

In this regard, Leeds are more like Liverpool, a team that was always going to find huge popular support as soon as it found its way back into title-winning contention.

McKennie playing for Leeds in the premiership is better than playing for Juventus in the Italian first division, highlighted by the fact that Juventus were one of the main protagonists for a breakaway European Super League.

The Premiership is the European Supper league. In other words, Leeds, even as it struggles to fight off relegation, is the type of club where a big, or should I say big-ish player (Weston Mckennie is no Erling Harlland,) has the potential to fulfill big player ambitions.

  2. Dopey yanks leeds are 4th watched team in epl world wide after 16 year out of top fligth and in championship we were top 6in veiwing figures, ,leeds have pull with there fanbase

  3. But some good players go to top clubs and they get glued to bench like Kalvin Phillips. Now we have 49rs on our back. Who knows maybe next season we join the top 4 like Arsenal now

  4. Lexie, do an uncut podcast, about the Greg Claud drama. But do it live, no cameras, only ur fans can come. But they can’t film it either. Or just tell me, ok? Ok.

  5. Leeds 5th biggest club in England 18 biggest income in world football when you consider Leeds has been out of the top flight for 17 years that's impressive

  6. Alexi 's take is pure lazy. After this window, this Leeds team is a far cry from the team that survived relegation on the final day. Alexi seems stuck into the narrative that Leeds cannot improve. And it is not like Weston at a "proper club" like Chelsea would start over their soft tatooed millionaires.

  7. The only reason Leeds is in the current predicament this season is due to a tactically stunted manager.

You can't just blame the players as Marsch has been fully backed now in 2 windows, most of the team are his picks.

The reason they struggled last year was squad decimation through injury… They were playing 15 year olds out of the youth team at the end of Bielsas Tenure.

As for saying Leeds Fans are touchy… This from a Yank YT hack who clearly doesn't understand English football culture and the passion it generates. Don't make me laugh…

Let's face it if it wasn't for our passion the EPL wouldn't be the most successful football league in the world…. And dare I say it… consequently wouldn't be on here spouting such click bait drivel…

  8. Juventus is in trouble and just received a 15 point deduction so getting out of there and into the premier league even at a club that won’t be in a European competition next season is arguably a step up.

  9. The fact is none of the types of club you may be referring to have come in for McKennie. Juventus wanted him gone and McKennie wanted Leeds.

Please note in the PL current position doesn't represent a clubs status. Whatever happens time will tell

  10. Didn’t one of you 2 clowns mention something along the lines of, if the American connection was lost, a lot of fans would go support another team 😂😂😂
That sort of thing doesn’t happen in England, you have a team and that’s it. Stick to rounders !!

  11. God hearing Muricans talk about the prem is like dressing monkeys in suits and putting them in an office. Who even is this bloke?

  12. Half of Newcastle’s teams is too good for Newcastle based on recent years but the only way to do better is to get better players… if money and playing time outweigh club prestige for the player then its a win win. Winning teams are built a player at a time (unless you are Chelsea 😂)

  13. This chap is clearly a numpty; as he said that they may or may not take up the option when it was confirmed that the obligation is mandatory should Leeds stay up.

There is a big fallacy in the ability that US players have. Both club form and the world cup has proven them not to be great at the biggest stage.

For all the hype & lauding he's managed just 13 goals and 5 assists for Juve over 3 seasons. The EPL is a completely different prospect to Serie A and what other club is paying his fee and wages to bring him to the EPL? He isn't walking into a top 8 side.

  14. This is pure arrogance this is why Americans with opinions like his are hated all around the world. We're American we're better than everyone else, no mate you're just a massive c**t

  15. Great league, worst possible team in every way. People who argue don't understand the difference between playing for Juventus and playing for a team that has won nothing in 50 years and will be relegated this year. The dude is better than both Adams and Arronson by alot

  16. Man City a proper club ?? Spoken by a man that clearly doesn't understand English football. Either that or it's just lazy clickbait. Yep, probably the second one….I've been had !!

  17. Not sure why some Leeds fans in these comments are being triggered to the point of disparaging Weston?
Just a reminder: Weston McKennie has NEVER said that he was "better than Leeds," only Alexi Lalas (former professional center back and current YouTube troll).

  18. And this is why a lot of Leeds fans don’t want the American fan base, media, attention etc because a lot of you have really no idea of football. Mckennie too good for Leeds? He’s really not it’s a perfect move for him and his career at his age. Leeds United is an absolute massive club, with massive history, a 1 club city with fans like no others. The best fans in the world hands down no doubt about it. Guy with glasses acts like he knows ball but really he’s just a deluded specki mongi with no idea

  19. Every true english supporter will tell you it's a bit rich to call man city a "proper club" relative to Leeds. They are literally tinpot without their oil.

  20. Anyone who is in Lalas’ camp when it comes to Weston and Leeds, are just as good at self-sabotage as he is! He is going to a premier league club that obviously isn’t going to be reckless and shoot above their skis like an Everton, try to build a stable, growing project with players that can grow chemistry and play well together immediately. If you are a USMNT fan, this is probably the best outcome when it comes to building chemistry and playing together in the toughest league to play in the world. What else could you want?

  21. He has his view but if we go down he’ll say “ I told you so about Leeds “ but if we stay up he’ll say I told you he’s too good for Leeds , it’s a no win for us in his eyes so let the little wuss cry about it we’ve more important things to think about MOT

  22. Leeds isn’t good enough for McKennie? It’s not just the club but how he performs at premier league level.. would he get into Man City or Arsenal right now? Doubt it.

Prove how good he is at Leeds then decide if a ‘bigger’ premier league club would be benefit from him.

  23. Tbf I'd never heard of Mckennie until his transfer to Leeds. Just done a quick Google of him and he hasn't really achieved anything of note. It's a good move for him.
