Win us the Champions League Pep, and it will be more than enough. He just said it himself the very first thing fans were asking him when he came to City was to win the Champions League. That’s his main objective from a fan perspective. UCL is the holy Grail for this club. Pep has been here for seven season now, and not a single season out of those years we’ve had a proper complete squad. Considering the enormous amounts of money we’ve spend on players over that period we could’ve build a proper team seasons ago (if we had a proper scouting/recruitment team). But unfortunately we still have yet to see a proper LB, last normal left back we had was Kolarov/Clichy. Every season there’s a piece of puzzle in that squad that is missing, whether it’s a winger or a midfielder, or a defender, or a left back or a goalkeeper that can actually save shots. Pep has created a midfielder FC out of our team. All we see is excessive sideways and backwards passing. Never thought we’d be playing this “dead possession” football under Pep, but that’s what it came down to this season.🤦‍♂️ We brought in one of the fastest and clinical strikers in the world, but in the same transfer window we got rid of all the pressing & pace up front that’s necessary to provide support for Haaland. We clearly don’t have the right personnel in key areas this season to get the best out of this team or Haaland for that matter. We’re way too slow in our buildup, our defenders either solid defensively but cannot play out of the back properly, or they can play the ball well but not good enough defensively. Grealish should’ve never been used as a winger, he’s absolutely useless there, and doesn’t have the necessary qualities nor the needed killer instinct to be a winger at the top level. Our recruitment over Pep’s time at City has been decent but nowhere near good enough imo if we want to become best in the world. We need killers in the box, but unfortunately we don’t have that (too many nice guys in our squad) and that stems from Pep’s personality imo.
