One of the least talked about points this season has been how Dean Huijsen has improved. Ever since he got that number 4 jersey he has been balling and got called up for the national team as well.

Now I know that he is kind of unreliable and also made a huge mistake in the Madrid Derby that cost us the match, but there's no denying that his season up until now has been nothing short of impressive and he might eventually enter the "one of the best" conversation maybe.

What do you all think? Should he start in the el classico according to you? In my opinion, he has improved a lot but there's that unreliability factor that makes it difficult for him to start in important matches and no matter how bad Rudiger is on the ball he still is a top defender and a very reliable one too so he should start. The other CB depends on Militao's fitness I doubt Mourinho is going to start him since he just came back.

He’s very good and I hope that he stays with us for a long time, especially since he is Spanish. Hopefully these kinds of mistakes don’t cost him and he is able to mentally overcome them

    2. Saw a tweet saying that the nr4 speaks to him like the Green Goblin mask 😂😂 he’s improved but has a long way to go, half the battle of being a Real Madrid CB is defending by yourself and he loses way too many duels for my liking, his positioning also needs to be better, we can’t afford a last man red every other month.

except for that red card he has been pretty good he is a young cb so getting red cards isnt something that crazy cbs get better with age

    4. has huge potential. nonetheless he needs to improve his positioning because he’s not fast, and he should be way ahead with heading.

    5. He cannot manmark like other defenders. He is not pacey to catch up forwards , aerially weak

    6. His big game cv is a little suspect but he definitely has all the traits to be a class cb in current football.

    7. huijsen’s got the talent but that derby mistake is gonna live in the back of everyone’s mind for a while, can’t really blame carlo for sticking with rudiger in a match like el clasico

his heading is just bad,he needs to win aerial duel much more as a tall guy, also just need to be in good position then he will be a beast.

Amazing start to the season apart from a few costly errors. Remember, he’s just 21 and has a lot of time to learn and grow. He can definitely improve his strength and aerial duels but that may come at the cost of his pace which is a bit low. But he offers a lot more in ways other defenders can’t with passing and on-the-ball confidence. It’s just a puzzle to pair him with the right defender who covers for his shortcomings.
Excited for Militank to be back. We saw what kind of a beast he became before his unfortunate run of injuries and still one of the best in the world if fully fit. We saw his progress as he was also signed at about the same age.

Being tall doesn’t mean that you are strong in the air.
Dean has improved yes, but he is kinda soft – weak generally. That’s why he was a disaster against Atletico 2 times.
Carreras is soft too, his worst game was against Atletico last year. Not a coincidence.
Dean is slow also, which means he needs someone fast and very strong as a partner in CB.

    11. Tbh, I’ve felt more confident in our defence anytime Huijsen is playing, and he’s definitely our best CB for sending the ball forward this season

Our best pairing is Militao-Upamecano, but there’s time for Militao to gain match fitness. Upa is surprisingly composed on the ball too. Probably more than Tchouameni and Tchouameni is a midfielder.

Huijsen has improved since he was relieved off the duties of being the playmaker. His passing is ridiculously good, on par with some of the best midfielders but I guess having both responsibilities was too much for him to take up at such a young age playing his first season in a new league.

El Classico pair should be Huijsen Upa without a doubt.

he is insanely good but because of midfield he and all cbs in team look more trash
