Seen a lot of "we lost everyone" moaning since West Ham went down, so I took a look at some of the data.
I ranked every one of last season's regulars against Premier League players in the same position, using The Prism rating (output per 90 on what each position is judged on). Hermansen came out top of all 24 PL keepers. Mavropanos was better than 93% of PL defenders, Bowen 77% of forwards, Paquetá 72% of midfielders. All four are still here.
And the ones who went? Up to 9 October, Diouf (€40.8m to Brentford) hadn't played 90 league minutes. Todibo was the same at Lens, and Wan-Bissaka had 153 of a possible 450 at Villa. Mateus Fernandes is the exception, with 250 at Spurs.
The one that gets me is Summerville. Better than only 15% of PL forwards last season, and Al Hilal paid €64.5m.

Well this is why we’re having so many of the same issues as last season lol. The same players and the same manager. I’ve not actually seen anything to suggest anyone at the club has learned from last season, we’re simply playing worse teams
I’m shocked there’s a combined metric where Hermansen came out as the best goalkeeper last season in the prem, I would have thought he’d be closer to the bottom than top.

I fail to see how Hermansen ans Mavropanos are better than 100/93% of PL players respectively, by any metric.
People stuck on the Hermansen one (which is ridiculous even though I don’t dislike him as much as the rest of this sub) in what world is Kilman better than 25% of defenders 😂
Id struggle to name worse defenders, arguably maybe wolves and Burnley (very arguable) but that’s 2 out of 19 teams
