Frenkie de Jong is finally getting closer to his Barcelona return – but where does he fit in Hansi Flick’s team?
With Rodri and Pedri controlling midfield, Fermín López and Dani Olmo fighting for attacking roles, and Barça already performing well without him, Flick now has a fascinating tactical decision to make.
Could Frenkie play alongside Rodri and Pedri? Could he replace Rodri in certain matches? Or could Flick surprise everyone by using De Jong as a left centre-back who moves into midfield with the ball?
In this video, we break down Frenkie de Jong’s return, his possible new role, Barcelona’s midfield options, Hansi Flick’s tactical ideas and why De Jong could become one of Barça’s most important players again.
What would YOU do with Frenkie when he returns?

he gets injured, i want him out , he is getting back am excited as fk
Frenkie defensively is too weak😢
I didn't see any contents from you for almost a week… I don't know if it's just me but it seemed like a hundred years wait.
Barcelona NEED to sell Frenkie de Jong as soon as possible. There's NOTHING he can bring to the team that someone else can't ALREADY do much better than he can ever do. He is TOO damn average.
It's time to cash in.
The La Masia graduates need to have their own time.
While the Men are on international break ….. this is a great opportunity to focus on the Women's Club Football. They are currently doing extraordinary things – Currently top of the Champions League and Liga F Tables. And it is not unusual to see 5 or even 6 goals scored (Just like the Mens). There is also a lot of young talent getting the opportunity to play (Just like the Mens)……………and of course the El Classico was a historic 7-0 win for BARCA with an incredible 4 GOALS for PINA within the first half
We need to sell him. No place for him after Rodri signing. Salary way too high for a player that's a merc who is constantly erasing himself and prioritizing other things over the club's needs.
WE DON'T NEED FRENKIE NO MORE
With Frankie back our options will be much better because he can also play as a CD
In 2nd half we can bring frankie as LCB and g.martin for lb for more defensive cover and attacking spaces at same point
I think he's gonna fit in the role of left back as xavi espart did successfully, it will be like 343
Happy Birthday 🎉🎉🎉
Peenoise be like: Renz Abando kasi malakas tumalon at may highlights 😂😅
I don't have any big hopes from him ,but its good to have more bodies flick should really try him at RB or CB ,
Frenkie for elclasico..myb as a CB..then also a quartets include rodri, pedri and fermin
Frenkie may never play as a CB, don't stress yourself. He'll most likely play as a 10 or 8.
Frenkie can play anywhere, he's that good.
My best Barca player true heir to Barcelona system
Hahaha some of yall analysis on football are just funny 😅😅😅so Frenkie can play central defence but not Rodri??
De Jon worst captain I ever seen, since I started watching Barcelona in 1998, media always cover up for him because it was a Bartomeu sign, he is the most overrated ever in the club. I hope he leaves sooner than later!!!!!
why i am smeling 4 3 4 again like prime 🙂
Dam, I feel for the forgotten man, Gavi
