  1. Of he’s leaving, just get it done asap so we can work on potentially bringing in another midfielder.

Barcola, a midfielder and a versatile defender would be make it a very very good window.

Oh great, when we need to be adding players to the squad we instead keep getting rid of them. Can’t possibly see how bad this will turn out.

  3. I don’t want to keep a very unhappy player like ruins the atmosphere and the facts he is a local lad too makes it even worse

  4. Would be gutted if he goes, but can’t blame him.

I have no idea what’s going on inside the club at the moment but this window is another nightmare.

I get why he would want to go, but our squad depth is terrible. Seems like we take one step forward and two back at the moment. Hoping for a big finish to the window, but can’t see it happening.

  6. according to someone here we are one of the richest clubs in the world, 30M is an insult, if he goes for free wherever he wants next year, so be it. One more season with our boy!!

I would rather he stay but if he won’t accept not being a starter than it’s better to sell. I wonder how this will affect our selection rules because he’s homegrown and based at the club. Hopefully not badly.

Also sadly we would be losing a scouser.

We’d still have grav, szob, macca, endo, wirtz, elliot, nyoni – am I the only one that thinks we have enough midfield depth so if he leaves we’re better using that for a CB, RB and a winger instead?

Like he said himself he cant stay at this fucking club anymore so bon voyage

  10. _No_Use_4_A_Name_ on

Instead of spending another 100+milly on barcola why not get a couple decent players for that

Hughes genuinely has zero fucks left to give now that he’s leaving, the amount of damage he’s done to this squad will take multiple transfer windows to fix.

  12. Maybe he was mad because he thought he was on his way out and wanted to captain the squad before he left? I don’t know, this whole situation just feels very sour.

  13. paulsmith259 on

He is a sqaud player. And not good enough to be a guaranteed starter. If that isn’t enough for him, then good luck

Another bizarre decision if they let him go. Arsenal, City, and now Chelsea all understand you need to keep and recruit top British players in a successful squad. Just like you need a few senior Spanish players in a La Liga squad, or Italians in a Serie A squad. It helps the cohesion. Helps new players settle and understand the culture. This is why Alonso wants guys like Hendo and Welbeck. We are going to move forwards in a post Milner, Robbo, Trent world with… permanently injured Gomez and Bradley, and Harvey Elliot as our senior lads helping people adjust to life in the UK and PL. I don’t think those guys can really speak to newcomers about setting standards. I just don’t get the approach and the priorities at all.

Don’t sell him, our football operations team doesn’t have the capacity or the bandwidth to sign another player. They’re struggling to get the initial ones on their list across the line lol

Mans been flirting with leaving for a while. Him and his missus love the lifestyle of being rich, let them go and be fashion bellends in Milan.

  17. recontextualizes the armband thing. probably the last chance for him to wear it for us then. I’d hate for him to leave tbh… you’d think he’d try to get in the squad more with the new manager

  18. ChampionshipAny1131 on

Club giving lowbank offer to Jones plus not letting him go to Inter for decent fee is clearly frustrating him.Just sell him for 30 mill.

  19. CymruPhoenix on

His valueation being so low is still crazy to me and I think it’d be insane to let him go at even the £35m point that we’re reportedly looking for. We wont get anyone close to his quality that also ticks the registration boxes he does for anywhere close to £35m in this market

  20. Fuck_Analysts on

Let’s just judge at the end of the window.. also, with the new coach maybe they want to analyze till December and try to buy one or two in January

  21. How are we buying for 100+ and selling for whatever this bullshit is? Can’t happen, if some rando is worth 90 mil so is Curtis!

  22. All that drama yesterday and now this…

Probably just a load of performative BS to help get his move. Get him gone.

Just hope his replacement is combative, pacy and releases the ball quicker!

  23. Trisslottenmedvinst on

If he wants to go then he wants to go.
Nothing to do but to sell. But let it be known that he would have been very much needed as rotation with Gravenberch, Mac Allister and Szoboslai when we are going to play Prem, CL and cup games. Without Curtis we’ll need to sign someone else. Manu Koné would be the best option in that case imo.

  24. I can’t see him leaving. I don’t want him leaving, he’s a clever player. Also if he was pissed off about the armband situation, then honestly it’s not a bad thing to have a heated disagreement with team mates over something he really cares about. These things happen and people get over them as well. Not like he was throwing punches at anyone and he had every right to be annoyed that he was overlooked.

  25. MajikoiA3When on

He has one year left. He has to be sold if he doesn’t sign a new deal it is what it is.

  26. New_Sympathy5234 on

We cannot to move on first team players for such low sums. I don’t care if there is a year left. They pay us what we want or everyone just moves on. I’m tired. Do we really need this to balance the books ? We’re so short of new signings so keep the ones we have or pay up

  27. football-arcade on

Do we really want to sell him, cause I believe he still has some talent to make into the first team. He is our remaining scouser so is gonna be bad if we let him go.
