France’s most important asset isn’t Mbappé. It’s a manager who’d rather win 4-3 than grind out a 1-0.

After Euro 2024, critics called Didier Deschamps outdated and too defensive. He answered by building the most devastating team at the 2026 World Cup — 13 goals in four games, two conceded.

This is how Deschamps made France great again. Not by copying Guardiola, but with a system that suffocates you for 70 minutes, then explodes through Mbappé, Dembélé and Olise.

It’s not always beautiful. But it wins tournaments. And this is his last one.

    1. As someone who watched both seasons of Blue Lock, France is the team who seems to be the most similar when we are comparing the progress.

France got a time with players with strong egos not playing as a team but also players here to carry the team by themselves, it looks like the season 1.
They are losing sometimes, but still going and learning from their mistakes while searching the answer.

And in season 2, they are playing only strikers against the U17 team but each person was assigned a role depends of their skills and it works.
The team spirit is here, french team seems like good friends.
The players are also growing and becoming mature, Mbappe is a great example.

Combined with good defensive skills, France team is ready to fight anything and show a great cohesion.
Didier Deschamps is searching each piece for the puzzle gradually and is adding them.

And similar to the Blue Lock project, France is creating and using since 40 years a lot of structures to got some big talent pool.
99 french players among the 1248 in the entire world cup is insane and it's not even close to the others (Netherlands 67, Germany 50, England 49, the remaining ones being 36 and lower).
Of course, some historical reasons are behind it for a part but it means France team is by consequent the elite among the elite.

    2. Agreed with you
We have one of the best team currently but a world cup final phase is crual and it's based on one game truth
I'm French and hope this will go till the end but if we don't i will still love this team

    3. And Zidane will the next coach..! Believe me, he will not even have to make sure that this team is sustainable, they will do it themselves! They would die for Deschamps, and it will be even stronger for Zidane. France will be a scary team at least for the next world cup cycle until 2030.

    4. Zidane has bigger shoes to feel… I feel he will succeed but it will take a kickstart to happen?
If you can do an analysis on Zidane I'll appreciate

    5. This is a huge omission. You go straight from Didier Deschamps' Basque roots to Marseille, completely leaving out his time at FC Nantes, the club where he was developed.

Yet this was probably the most important stage in shaping him as a player. There, he worked under Coco Suaudeau and absorbed the philosophy of the great FC Nantes: one-touch football, constant movement, and the belief that the collective is always greater than the individual. This "jeu à la nantaise" left a lasting mark on football and later inspired many clubs, including Barcelona.

It's difficult to understand the player—and later the manager—Didier Deschamps became without mentioning this Nantes education. Leaving out such a fundamental chapter removes a key piece of the puzzle and seriously undermines the credibility of the video.

    6. And you don't even speak about metrics… France is not even in the top 10 of running team or for pressure… which makes France frighten 😱😱😱

    7. Avant d'engager un général , Napoléon demandait " Mais a-t-il de la chance ? " . Dédé est connu pour sa chance insolente. Partout où il se trouve , les planètes s'alignent pour lui.

    8. I really like your video !
It really pays tribute to each one of that team I am found of.

Maybe you could have added/or for an upgrade add some image of him in his debut's yellow jersey… 'petit canari de Nantes!'🤭… from an old member of 'Le peuple Vert' who always paid respect to our main opponent, the FC Nantes. Vive le football !

    9. this paraguayan team were despicable, unspeakable—and right in front of cameras from all over the world: we saw them hitting French players even when they didn’t have the ball at their feet… it wasn’t soccer anymore—it was rollerball…
      They need to be punished.
