The Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow left FC Twente fuming after his quick thinking avoided a potential goal threat.

Feyenoord were winning 1-0 when Bijlow raced out of his area to make a tackle. His pace saw him beat Twente’s Virgil Misidjan to the ball at the expense of a throw, but with Bijlow stranded on the sidelines the forward sensed an opportunity for a quick goal.

Bijlow’s quick thinking scuppered that idea however, as the Feyenoord keeper grabbed a stray ball and threw it onto the pitch to stop play, much to Misidjan’s chagrin. The Twente winger threw the ball at the keeper in anger, and Bijlow received a yellow card for his gamesmanship.

  1. Keeper should've been given a red, complete dirt tactic, clever, but that's straight dirt. No place for unsportsmanlike behavior.

  2. but he is smart. Twente were down 1-0 and when any player sees the goalkeeper out of their net, they see a huge opportunity to score but when they don't they get angry. Pretty smart, Bijlow.

  3. Ball went out, throw in to other side. Winger could've quickly thrown it back in to restart play and score, but the keeper threw another ball on the pitch and hence play could not be restarted, giving time for him to go back to his post.

  4. Should’ve pretended to hand it to the Twente player but just enough out of reach to miss.

“I swear ref, I wasn’t trying to hold up the play. I was handing him the ball.”

  5. he should have given that ball to the player directly, he couldnt have been able to control both balls and let 1 slips out, he could have avoided the yellow like this
