You’d think United would want to pay off their debt and be financially sound with a new stadium on the horizon.

  2. I just don’t trust these players who have one good season in the prem, 80 is just wild gamble

I know the price is for potential but to pay 80 mio for a midfielder that got relegated back to back is kind of insane. New reality is being set this season after two big money flops in the last one too.

no way west ham are actually gonna get £80m for fernandes lmao 💀 united are so desperate they’ll probably overpay by like 20m just to get it done quickly. remember when they threw stupid money at maguire and sancho? this feels like the same energy all over again. fernandes is decent but he’s not worth that kind of cash, especially when you’ve got real madrid and arsenal sniffing around too – those clubs actually know how to negotiate 😂

Leading a one horse race as everyone else pulled out because of the ridiculous price.

The discovery of new high quality players at the World Cup will reduce the demand of the current small set of players in focus. Hence, price reduction. During the World Cup agents networks and sporting directors have less influence over who the world see. People will see players outside of the data bases creat by the same set of people.

  7. Man city buying 120m midfielder: UGH MAD, Man City ruining football

Man utd buying 80m relegated midfielder: YEAY

I’d imagine only Utd are stupid enough to give West Ham what they want for a cm that has been relegated in consecutive seasons.

  9. West Ham are entitled to ask for it but the money in transfers is a bit of a joke these days. Even accounting for football inflation, £80M should be the sort of money that gets you a bona fide proven game winner. Now its just the opening price for anyone vaguely promising.

Wenger called this years ago but the end of this road is every player on shorter contracts and the majority of transfers being players leaving on a free as clubs are going to stop paying it and players are going to realise a large portion of the transfer fee could be going in their pockets instead of to the club.

Just for the benefit of people on this thread.

He is absolutely superb and we have had some class central midfielders last five years or so.
