I looked into this matter when Enrique Riquelme poised a very striking point against Florentino Perez's management of Real Madrid is very inefficient in this interview: Riquelme concerns about excessive spending and promises cost cutting.
One of the most striking sections of the AS interview came when Riquelme accused the current administration of excessive spending and promised major cost-cutting measures.
“And look, we need to do an audit to see how the accounts stand.” Riquelme claimed there are between €120 million and €140 million in potential savings within the current structure.
“To begin with, Real Madrid TV, with a budget of 45 million euros.”
He also alleged that the club employs too many executives and spends excessively on external consultants. “There are almost 50 Real Madrid executives earning over a million euros. What are we talking about?”

Why did the media never spoke about this?
Think it’s so much because of the concert cancelations.
Florentino has to sell the club so his friends keep earning their million
“More than the second team on the list”, isn’t that what being first on the list is?
Riquelme is right and he will still lose this election.
Tbh I think it’s an accounting trick for FFP(Financial Fair Play) rules.
Florentino has plenty of his guys on the payroll to tell him he’s the best and the issue isn’t the squad. No wonder he’s deluded about the players
I think it is really good that Enrique is making the socios think about these important aspects and asking the right questions. Though it is unlikely he wins in these elections but truly hoping that his actions wake socios up and in turn Perez to hopefully right the wrongs over the past few years…
honestly our wage bill is ridiculous compared to other top teams
We’ll never know because someone didn’t have the balls to have a debate eventhough it’s exactly why he organized the elections in the first place
According to the consolidated financial statements for 24/25, that figure represents all the employees, which includes players and coaching staff. €206 million was used on the first team players and coaching staff, which is about 40% of the total personell expenses. So that number should be closer to €300 million.
The number that matters is OPEX as a %, which is above most other top clubs but not alarming at all at 43%.
What this means is that Real Madrid obtains the most revenue but operating costs to get there are higher than average. This is likely explained by the basketball section and the stadium, at least in part. My guess is that there’s other expenditure from ventures that aren’t yet generating (enough) revenue but would love to see a breakdown.
