I get that he has a chance to win a title at Benefica, but this feels like a lateral movement to me.

fulham had something special going with silva and he got them playing proper football again. benfica’s a big opportunity but man, leaving when the team’s finally clicking feels rough for the fans. that said, you can’t blame a guy for wanting to win a title and go home. hopefully fulham’s got enough momentum built that the next manager can keep it rolling, because they were actually fun to watch this season.

  3. >Fulham wanted to keep Silva and offered him a new contract. Joining Benfica would give him the chance to coach in Europe, the club having finished third in Portugal to enter the Europa League qualifiers.

    >Silva thanked Fulham’s fans for their support and said: “We achieved so much together, and my staff and I will never forget the connection we felt. Fulham will always mean a lot to me.”

    >Khan said Fulham were an “extraordinarily attractive destination for an incoming head coach” and that a replacement would be appointed “in a timely but deliberate manner”.

Fulham was doing special achievement with Marco Silva. Sad to see him leave.
