      They just don’t want to pay Slot’s compensation and are happy he got champions League money – they don’t care about the brand of football or the general malaise of the squad this last 12 months..

      Wouldn’t even call it a gamble, I’d call it beyond insanity.

      Alonso did the impossible in Germany, and even did well despite the RM drama. Letting him go to a direct rival would be suicide.

      Also add on the fact, what he can teach our players from his experience AND he’s now the top Spanish manager alongside Pep, so he has huge pull for SA, Spanish and Portuguese players. Most top sides have a few Spanish players, we have 0, and they outright refuse us, but happily jump to City, and even United.

      Honestly, if Chelsea pull this off, hope Alonso wins 5 in a row to teach FSG a lesson.

      I think Edwards and Hughes want Slot because he will toe the line plus does not command fan power. After Klopp, Edwards does not want another manager who can rally the crowd against him.

      Alonso will be a crowd favourite and will command a lot of power. Edwards wants a docile replaceable coach.

      While I appreciate the idea of patience, and not becoming a club that churns through managers like its nothing (Chelsea), I still think we’re missing a golden opportunity.

      There aren’t as many truly world class managers working today as people think. Xabi, in my opinion is world class, a club legend, a brilliant tactician, and has a great mind for football.

      He covers so many bases and is such an obvious choice it’s ridiculous not to at least consider him. But to let him go to one of our rivals is a ridiculous decision.

      We have Edwards and Hughes sticking with a manager that will tank another season, a season that all three will leave at the end of. Baffling how this is allowed to happen by the owners. 

      There is nobody who hasn’t seen the writing on the wall for months. It was quite clear before Christmas that Liverpool were not going to improve if Slot remained manager. If they couldn’t get the manager they liked mid season then fine but you have the perfect replacement, who knows how to get the best out of the player you are going to build future Liverpool’s around, available.

      But the thing is Slot is down to 1 year on his deal. So whats more likely, we extend his deal or sack him?

      I think we’re just keeping quiet until the seasons over and we’ll sack him after the final game.
