  1. A 1-0 victory in the CL final coming from a Gabriel header would complete football for me, it simply couldn’t get better than that.

  2. Don’t care how we do it. Get a draw/win. No injuries.

I trust Mikel not to be interested in ‘entertaining’ rivals. Do a solid job, and settle/bury the tie next week.

  3. Given that we can afford a draw today but a draw against fulham would kill our title hopes, I hope arteta doesn’t start saka, eze or calafiori today even if they’re fit. Also sub off odegaard as soon as possible

  4. What do we all sincerely think about the game yesterday? It was probably the most entertaining game I’ve seen in a while. I think the technical level of both teams was incredible, so crisp, so forward looking, so fast. The quality on some of the goals (Kvara and Diaz in particular) was really special.

I also thought the midfields were compeltely bypassed and the defending was a bit silly. I do get that they were going band for band, that both teams displayed a lot of quality in the attack, and that when you play on the edge like that there just will be a lot of chances. But go back and watch the full first half, the amount of times it’s just 1 pass that somehow cuts through everyone is a joke. It’s just poor control, poor organisation.

PSG went 5-2 up and I immediately thought “Bayern are still in this”. That isn’t quality that’s just poor from PSG. Bayern should have had to bleed to get a goal back, and they didn’t. Football is low scoring by design. Everyone thinks they want 9 goals in every game but you don’t because they lose their value. Like the perfect game is a really competitive 3-2.

Idk, heaps of fun, lots and lots of talent, but I think people just go “9 goals it’s the best match ever” and to me this isn’t close to some of those City-Liverpool games. It had the rhythm of one of my 7 asides when the game gets really stretched because people don’t want to run and keep shape anymore, but with the best players in the world attacking lol.

Looks like Arsenal/Atletico is the actual real final, no one is gonna be conceding 4/5 goals tonight.

  6. Honestly feeling a bit better after the City and Newcastle match, compared to the 5/6 matches before. We’re still not great but I feel like we can get something out of nothing

Practically everyone is expecting a dull game tonight but honestly wouldn’t surprise me if it didn’t pan out that way. Obviously not expecting something like we saw last night but this isn’t the steely Atlético we’ve seen in the past.

  8. Some of the takes here after the game last night are not even cope anymore, just straight up gaslighting. 😂

My main takeaways from yesterday were:

    1) A good attack can turn a game on its head in a matter of minutes and alleviates the pressure on your defence, giving them some breathing room. Relying on your defence to keep clean sheets and come out on top of tight margins for a whole season is unsustainable
    2) Our technical quality on the ball is miles behind PSG or Bayern across our attack and midfield. We might have more duel winners but technical players can provide those moments of brilliance which can unlock the whole game and we have none of those other than Odegaard, Saka and arguably Eze.

Say what you will about our style of play, but a game of basketball like yesterday would never happen against us.

  11. Only our fourth ever Champions League semi final. Yet from what I see on this sub, we are the worst team ever to exist.

    Smh.

I just realised from a comment here that our issue seems to be that we take too long on the ball to make a decision. Pass -> hold for a second too long -> safe pass.

This feels like it was drilled in by Arteta and it’s so counterproductive. As if he wants them to look around first and think before making the move, just as he was himself as a midfielder.

Unfortunately, this level of discipline perpetually kills momentum. I wish he at least didn’t make our wingers play like this.

people really watched a 9 goal thriller and their first thought was arsenal. the derangement syndrome gets worse and worse every day

  14. All last night proved was that to be considered the best team in the world you have to be shit at defending

  15. All that talk about it not feeling like CL semifinal week and being preoccupied with Fulham… Yeah, I’m not there anymore. Feels like a big, big day now.
