A summer exit from Newcastle United for Anthony Gordon appears increasingly likely.
Momentum is gathering around a sale of the England international. Newcastle expect to be able to make a substantial profit on the £40million ($54m), plus £5m in add-ons, they paid Everton for the England forward in January 2023.
Club insiders insist they are not a “forced seller” and so “the price would have to be right”.
Chelsea are interested in signing Gordon, with any potential transfer not believed to be dependent on Chelsea qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
According to sources, they want players with top-league experience who are used to the tough schedule of playing in four competitions in a season. They are also looking for players who are emotionally mature and have strong character.
Bayern are keen to sign another wide player this summer, and Gordon is high among their options. Yan Diomande, RB Leipzig’s 19-year-old winger, is Bayern’s top target, but the likely cost is expected to prove prohibitive, which is why Gordon has been actively explored as an alternative.
Arsenal have tracked Gordon long-term, with the winger on a target list for wide attacking players last summer.
Newcastle have not actively engaged with the Gordon speculation and will not be drawn on a likely asking price, though sources with knowledge suggest they would like to receive around £80m for the forward.

Would be sad to see him go but probably the right decision.
For a guy who reads so many books on mentality you’d think his would be better. Been absent in so many games this last year or two.
It’s cool he can score pens, but otherwise he hasn’t looked great for a while. Hopefully he has a good world cup and we can take the money and run. Could do with a boost in funds, especially in a summer rebuild.
No big loss. Easily replaceable output.

And Chelsea want Gordon..?
On top form, he’s unplayable. However for me, he’s rarely done that over the last few seasons. And at times Ive thought he’s been lucky to stay in contention with England (happy that some would disagree with that).
That’s said, I think we would miss him lots. Weirdly put in some of his better performances as a make shift 9 this year for me.
If he wants to go, and we can get a healthy return, let him go and let’s wish him all the best. Probably good value at 80m for his versitility imo for any top club.
Tarra la!
This guy is worthless
I think it’s fine for us fans to be emotionally connected to players, but at this stage of the ‘project’ the club must cash in on profit opportunities. In saying that though, the recruitment has to be better.
I do think however that Bruno, Hall and Miley should be non-negotiable do not sell at any price. Bruno for his quality and commitment, the other two due to age, Hall being a fan and Miley being an academy player.
Sell him for 75m and we might just make up the shortfall for when sell Wissa on the cheap
Emotionally mature and strong character? Just cos he says it in interviews lol I’m yet to see it on the pitch.
Not sure I’d be happy with him going to an English club.
Also we should remember the premium manure put on Lingard’s loan deal if we ever enter negotiations with them.
So who do we think is really out the door? Schar, Krafth and Ruddy. Also Gordon and Tino. Ramsdale loan will end, Pope might go if we FINALLY get a strong No1. Tonali probably going as well. We’re listening to offers for Wissa. I also think we might finally say goodbye to Murphy (a promoted team will probably offer like £10m or something for him).
80 million would be great business, bought him, did a job, move him on for a profit, buy a replacement. Woltemade can take pens.
For 80 Million I’d drive him myself.
World’s most expensive penalty taker.
I’ve not met a Toon supporter who thinks he should stay. Let him go, ideally for £70m+. He hasn’t looked like he wanted to be here for a while now.
People saying Gordon doesnt turn up for smaller games who does? Because one player can’t make the team lose unless it’s OGS or Major fuck ups.
For him I think Bayern is a great option, for us I am not sure they’ll pay what Arsenal would
More interested in who we might sign to replace him. Barnes is not good enough to fill the position permanently, so we’d need to get someone younger and with potential.
If we kept it in the Prem maybe someone like Summerville or Kudus could be an option. Think someone like Ndiaye becomes too expensive.
Don’t know the other leagues well enough.
I don’t quite understand the Bayern links. He’s valued at around £70m+ and they were reluctant to pay £60m+ for Woltemade, plus they have Diaz in the at position.
Chelsea would make sense since they’ve already tried to sign him. Hopefully we don’t try to do any player exchange with them.
These are the kind of sales we need to be making. Gordon never was and never will be a world class talent like Isak for example. Anderson should never have been let go. Anything close to 70 million and the club should take the money and run.
I’m afraid it’s only a matter of time before the headline reads “PIF looking to sell failed Newcastle ownership reign”
Couple of seasons ago I’d be devastated. After this season and last? I’m not that arsed
Quite a lot of shade being thrown on gordon here and im not entirely sure why.
Hes looked a little lost since isak left and he had a proper focal point on the pitch and recently has looked slightly less enthusiastic…however that could be said about the majority of the players on the pitch.
On the flip side, I can name games where gordon has been one of the few players to put a proper shift in and look like he cares.
Hes been a great player for us and personally I think he deserves a bit more respect than the ‘penalty taker’ shit being thrown at him, even if i think perhaps now is the best time for him to move on for both parties.
Do hope he doesnt go and waste himself at chelsea though…
Looks like probably Wilson is leaking to everyone ahead of PIF asking him to explain what has happened this season.
Bonus point, that rat bastaed Ornstein hasn’t gotten his name on the byline. The cheque mustn’t have cleared yet for him to start his ‘linking’ stories like he did with Isak (allegedly)
What is it with Chelsea and wingers 😂 I swear they sign a minimum of two either side every transfer window, he would probably fit right in there with the fighting over penalties. Anyways anything from £65M upwards would be probably about the right fee for him, he has been diabolical from open play for far too long and we desperately need a new starting 11 winger
