Dave Edwards says the culture is broken. If a club legend thinks the dressing room lacks responsibility, why are we keeping Rob Edwards?

Probably wouldn’t be fair to say that’s a consequence of Rob Edwards. The culture is probably driven by:
    – FOSUN and shi. Ultimately they decide which players to sell and keep and whether to invest in the club. And they’re responsible for this never ending manager merry go round we’re experiencing. Different manager, different style, different culture.
    – the players who seem to be less interested in playing for wolves and more interested in using us as a stepping stone for something else. They all think they’re bigger than they are
    – recruitment who seem unable to grasp that we need players who actually want to play for us ontop of them being good players. We used to have a clique of Portuguese who appreciated the city they represented. These days there are far too many players here for a paycheck.

For once I’d like to see us gut the management (board) and the players before we gut any more managers. That’s my only argument for keeping Edwards I.e. I think we have bigger issues than him

The manager is quite low in the pecking order these days as seen by the fact they’re usually the first one to be shown the door.

  2. Because his tenure is still in its infancy and he joined the club at one of its lowest and most toxic points in recent history?

There is not a single manager within Fosuns reach that could’ve kept us up.

People have forgotten we were on track for the worst ever top flight season with VP. Players who didn’t give a fuck, a manager who wanted out.

We have improved under Edwards. He could’ve done better at some moments sure, but considering the circumstances, he has shown enough to warrant backing.

Ultimately, you have to back the guy next season, until he gives us a reason not to. This season is a write off, forget about it. Give the guy the summer and see how we are doing in November. That being said I think a lot of people are really over estimating how well we are going to do next season, championship is a tough league.

  3. Season is a moot point now and that dressing room will look a lot different next season so i wouldn’t worrry about it.

Let’s face it. Fosun has let Wolves sink back to where we were 9 seasons ago. Big difference is when they took control in 2017 they had ambition and a vision for Wolves to be a top 6 club in the Prem. That plan went down the toilet after the first 3 or 4 seasons. Fosun really have no plan for Wolves now. Expect a long time in the Championship and lower leagues while Fosun stay in charge.

  5. Posts like this genuinely confuse me because, were people expecting Rob to keep us up this year?

Look at the squad and tell me how many players make it into a top half team, let alone a top 6 team. There’s perhaps 3 at best. Vitor and Tetti absolutely decimated the squad and morale of the players. Pep couldn’t have saved us this season.

The blame for this really doesn’t lay at Rob Edwards’ feet.

  6. Culture is much, much more than dressing room morale – it’s about whether people feel able to raise concerns, challenge authority, interrogate mistakes to learn from them, take risks, take initiative, whether you take a long term view or not, how tightly you adhere to a strategy (or if you have one at all) etc.

The culture at Wolves look beyond fucked. No responsibility, no accountability, sack the director of football and replace him with the next most senior man regardless of whether he’s experienced or qualified or anyone else would appoint him, sack the big boss and replace him with someone of the same name but leave the structure identical. Never learn, repeat the same mistakes year after year, sack managers who get too vocal about your mistakes rather than considering if they might be right, shoot for a quick buck. Portuguese players, UK players, South American players etc.

The team morale is probably shit from relegation and it’s hard to say what responsibility Rob has for that and players will come and go anyway, but it doesn’t really matter because the culture is rotten.

It’s a funny headline considering it’s been broken pretty much since the departure of Nuno

  9. The fuck does Dave Edwards know about the dressing room culture, he left the club 10 years ago
