They must know why they’re giving him another year on his contract.

They know how important players like him are for the team and the club, not just because of their performance on the pitch, but also because of their experience. He’s a true leader. Kompany also said he wants to keep him. Besides, they have a very good number two who’s now slowly coming into his own.

Bayern have always stuck with their older, established players for a long time, and that’s always served them well. It’s also part of the club’s image.

Fc Bayern doesn’t just pay a guy millions for a year and let him play one of the most important positions on the pitch just because of a legend status. They know what they’re doing, probably analyzing every game and every training session he does.

Then I googled: “Gigi Buffon retirement age” – 45
And I thought to myself, “So maybe we can expect another year or two from him? 🥲.. Cope.. 🥲”

If you win the treble this season even if his big mistakes continue to increase and some of his clutch moments decrease I don’t think anyone can be mad at this… if he’s at fault against PSG / in the final and it causes a loss then I dunno how well that goes down if he remains #1
