If he’s here for the dressing room vibes then sound but he cannot start vital games from now until foreseeable

  2. It’s lovely for him but jesus, this is just a sentimental piece of business really.

Maybe, if there was evidence we’d do some proper recruitment and had our shit together, it’d be absolutely fair but knowing how we operate, this is just so they don’t have to replace him. Also – surely this is a decision for a new manager?

Our problems at right wing are sorted for another year.

Jokes aside I’m fine with the likes of Forrest getting a year extension as long as we actually recruit well ahead of him. He’s a good professional to have around the club and play as a sub in 20 odd games a season on what I imagine are relatively low wages.

Of course we won’t recruit well and he’ll be needed far more than he should be though.

We should give him a contract that automatically extends for the following season once he’s scored a goal. Keep the streak going for as long as possible.

  5. Tbf, he knows his place in the squad. Can still come on for 15mins and contribute. As long as he’s 3rd choice RW and 4th LW, it’s decent cover.

  6. Don’t understand the negativity with this from some people here. Been such an amazing to the servant for the club I think he deserves it if he wants it.

Why not as well? Proved at the weekend he can still make an impact, better than most wingers we’ve got right now as well and clearly an important player to have around.

James Forrest to score the winner against Hearts to win the title, put your money on it!

  8. Not a surprise decisions like this with a club just completely stuck in the past . Complete dinosaurs running the club .

Right, let me preface this by saying I absolutely adore James Forrest, but what the fuck.

The guys 35 in the summer, hasnt had a season of proper contribution in about 5 years and we are supposed to be building for the future. We did it with Brown , it looks like we are going to do it with Mcgregor {not saying mcgregor is done yet but we are running him into the ground when he clearly isnt capable of playing 50 games a season anymore} and we are now doing it with forrest, keeping people around way too long.

Why cant we just let club legends go at the right time and give them their flowers.

  10. Can’t fault that bit of business. He knows he is bench player now n has accepted and embraced the role.

  11. I’m not saying this is right/wrong move but shouldn’t it be for the new manager to decide?

He isn’t going to play every game and will probably sit out large parts of the season. But he will be a very useful player to have in the squad.  Without Jota being available he is arguably our best winger. The lesson to be learnt is we need to sign wingers like him. Wingers that can get to the bye line and get a cross in. I can’t be the only supporter extremely frustrated with inverted wingers constantly cutting inside and running in to a packed defence.

  13. Earned the right to keep playing for the club for as long as he’s still got the legs. An incredible servant.

People would rather kick out the most decorated player we’ve ever had, who is happy to be a spare part, so we can sign another Mvuka because he’s young.

Is it sad we HAVE to rely on this? Absolutely. Am I sad about an absolute legend and our most decorated player staying here? Nope.

His ability to pop up with a crucial goal late in a game is genuinely unmatched, and I’m all for keeping that weird goal-scoring streak alive as a running side-quest for the club. Honestly, for a veteran who clearly loves being a squad player, this is a no-brainer.

Been a great servant to the club and it’s good to have someone with his experience around the dressing room. We saw at the weekend he is still able to make a difference in games.

He deserves to finish out his career at the club

One of the few that should be considered for another contract. Some of them have been stealing wages this season.

Looking forward to the renewal adverts saying “James has signed up for 26/27, have you?”

  19. Crabbit_Jobbie on

For most of the season, he made a better contribution than Maeda and Tounetki off the bench.

  20. Dull_Zombie3734 on

As much as I love the guy,and still think he’s our best r.winger we have at the club, he HAS TO START,even if only for 50 minutes he brings more than tounekti ever does or will do…I think sentiment is playing a big part here. I mean the tail end of the season before last he was by far and away our best player. LEGEND,FOREVERCELT,and watching him make his debut to the goal against Karagandy in 2013 that put us through to C.L in a 3-2 89th minute winner,Get him started in the Falkirk Game

He should get a statue, a documentary, and a testimonial. He’s a legend.

But I think it’s kicking the can dowb the road sadly.
