These screen grabs are so disingenuous. Particularly if you actually watch the full 90 minute matches. In all seriousness, a lot of people in this sub seriously need to watch Mbappe play for France. All this constant fixation on him not being a true striker is exactly why him and France thrive so much. Because the likes of him, Dembele, Olise, Ekitike, Doue, Barcola, etc are all constantly fluidly interchanging between the 9, 10, LW, and RW. And it makes it incredibly difficult for opponents to actually track the French attackers. A lot of people in this sub are completely ignoring that there is literally no right winger right now. Not one. The entire attack is completely unbalanced because an entire side of the pitch literally does not have a winger.

If there is a single player to blame in this picture it would be the one with the ball. He was either too slow to mount a counter or there wasn’t opportunity to do it since there are 7 defenders and only 1 RM player.

Most amazing thing is how we simultaneously attack and defend in inferiority all the time. Like in the picture there is 0 box presence or anyone to cross to but then the opponent attacks and no one is tracking back either and 2-3 players are hanging out offside

Go watch a City game, a PSG game, a Bayern game, see where their strikers are at all times, go watch a Real Madrid game from 10 years ago, see Benzema or Ronaldo outside of the box constantly, especially when you have almost no creators in the team.

These don’t contribute anything to the discourse on this sub, and posting a screenshot out of a 90 min game helps nothing, when the player criticized scores most of his goals in the box, and is probably the one with most shots taken in the box.
Criticize him when he doesn’t defend, when he doesn’t press, when he misses an easy chance, not for fucking stupid shit like this.

This doesn’t show the lack of movement in general (which was temporaly kinda fixed by the very active Thiago Pitarch and Brahim starting).
It also does not show how much it takes us to move the ball from one side to the other, what Kroos usually did with just 1 long pass, now it takes 3-4.
And it is also missing the lots of problems in defense, mostly because the lack of effective pressure, and a pretty poor management of missmatches (whenever an oppossing mid will show at our border, either the CB jumps too late, or the midfield does a half-assed job following them and they create a problem).
And to be clear, I’m not saying that a lack of attack reference has not been a reocurring problem. It has.
