[The Athletic, in the article] Barca’s interest in retaining Rashford after his loan spell ends this summer, meanwhile, has cooled down. Club sources believe he had a golden chance to make his mark this month following Raphinha’s latest hamstring injury, and that he did not fully take it

  1. Barca PR team are working so hard on this angle. Amazing that titles like the Athletic allow themselves to be used so blatantly for negotiating.

Basically pay up or feck off. We don’t care.

Not a surprise. Didn’t expect them to take it even if he played well – not sure if he does, don’t watch Barca. His stats look good however.

Imo this has Villa written all over it which is not a bad option with Emery and UCL football.

  4. Fairs. He really hasn’t been that good for them and with the wages he’s on it’s not exactly worth it

Doesn’t change the fact he is averaging a goal contribution per 90. Should attract plenty of suitor’s in summer. Barcelona can go fuck themselves

  7. It’s both funny and sad that if we fail to sell him in summer, he will stay as the 3rd choice LW behind 2 players who are not even wingers.

  8. This is negotiation tactics, people.

And if they don’t trigger the clause, then Rashford will be sold somewhere else. I highly doubt he wants to waste a year in his prime by being outside of the team and just collecting a pay check (because he will not be integrated with the team).

  9. There will be clubs who would take him for 25m euros. The issue is wages. Watch Carrick take Rashy back if he gets the job

Bayern we’ve got a lightly used rashford. Don’t waste £75 mill on Gordon when you can get Rashidi for half of that.

  11. Will be interesting to see if Rashford is more interested in getting paid or playing for a club he wants to be at.

Barca are full of shit. They know they need a striker and CB and don’t want him anymore, simple as.

  13. Loan him out elsewhere and let him go for free th following summer.

I would happily have him as a a rotation option but he’s just gonna be unhappy again not playing much games and all the media nonsense that comes with.

  14. Barca with their usual broke ass preparing the ground for being a cheapskate.

Don’t give us that “interest has cooled” bullsh*t. If you want him, pay up the 35 you agreed to, if you don’t, just shut up and send him back. No need for this ridiculous news every week about how rashford isn’t worth 35mil.

We’ve seen this back and force article about 10 different times now, not believing anything until it’s done either way. Also, pretty sure they never intended to trigger the release clause seeing as all the articles for the last 6 months were saying they were trying to negotiate a lower price.

  16. On the one hand, Barca are cheap as fuck and are dropping this deal because apparently we’re not bending to them. Good, fuck Barcelona.

That said, if Rashford had scored 20 goals, Barca would have closed this deal instantly. Rashford, like Garnacho, finding out not only is the grass not greener, the problem was never with the club. Garnacho, at least, has seemingly come to realise this.

Can be argued his stats for Barca look decent on paper, but in general I don’t think he has impressed much. There has been a lot of stat padding on his end too.
He’s had moments, performance against Newcastle in CL, important goal against Atletico in the league a few weeks ago. But overall I don’t think his contribution to them has been significant at all.

He’s had numerous chances due to injuries all the way across their front line, but he’s never established himself, and always looked a bit out of place, compared to the technical ability of those around him.

But sadly the experience of picking up a likely league medal is only going to add to his ego. That, coupled with his stupid wages here, is going to make it so difficult to move him on, as there is going to be a big gap between what he thinks he is worth and deserves, vs the offers we will actually get for him

The joke will be on them because Raphinha is injury prone and Lewandowski is (most probably) leaving.

Yamal and Torres won’t be enough, and Rashford is outperforming (and IMO is better overall player) than both Olmo & Fermin.

  19. We genuinely need to stop dealing with Barcelona full stop.

They are pull far too many schemes and shenanigans and are just too unreliable in general. Be it selling to them or seeking to buy from them.
