Part of me thinks de zerbi would’ve got something out of him

harsh on brennan, wasnt at his best this season for us but hes low on confidence and you can see it. People forget he was our top scorer in anges last season, personally one of my favorite players and its kinda hard to see him just throw out to palace , especially when we could alwys use an extra winger or even player of his quality right now

11 PL goals for us last season.
Our current top scorer has 9, the next is on 4, and we’re in the relegation zone.
Not exactly been validated has it.

Feel bad for him. The first thing I saw when I checked Fotmob for the game last night was that he had been booked, then when I looked at the commentary to see why it was saying he had just missed a huge chance and that Palace players would have wished it fell to anyone but him. Seems like rough going there for him.
He’s the perfect blend of nice lad and also a bit of a shithouser, would like to see him established somewhere where he’s well liked. He’s already faced so much criticism, must be tough mentally to be getting grief in another team after what he got here.

I will always love Brennan! selling him for the fee we got was actually very good business. Not signing a replacement is what was disastrous about selling him in January

Yeah I mean he just isn’t good enough.
However, he had a lot of heart, wanted to play for the club, was generally well liked in the dressing room. He would have been incredibly critical from a morale perspective the past few months.
But I guess when the deal is on the table you have to take the money. Bad timing though.

He wasn’t a legendary player for us in the way some others are, but I don’t have reason to dislike him by any stretch. Publishing a piece on him not having a good season seems really harsh.

Paid 50 million pounds for this guy. What a fleecing. Terrible player.

Selling him wasn’t a problem. Not signing a replacement was.

Selling him wasn’t the issue.
It was selling him, in January, with our form in the toilet, without having a definite upgrade or even a stop gap replacement.
We have done this for years and it’s why we are where we are. Signing players and replacing them with the same, worse or nobody at all.

People talk about low confidence a lot when it comes to players performing badly and most of the time I find it’s overused and exaggarated.
That being said, Brennan is absolutely a player that has let low confidence take over his play. On the ball and playing as a winger has been seen as a weakness for him but it’s genuinely because he doesn’t believe he can do it. The first few games of this season I saw him actually attempt to take on his man as a winger would and he was quite decent but rather than dust himself of and try again he retreats more to avoid losing the ball or making a bad play.
If he had the ego of somene like Garnacho I genuinely believe he would be one of the best players in the prem even as a winger and i don’t mean in the far future but as early as next season.

Tbh he did go to a place that is antithetical to his play style. RDZ may have even been able to has him

He’s clearly a decent player, albeit when playing in a specific role.
You don’t get that many goals / assists if you’re as useless as many make him out to be.

I’m actually a bit worried about his mental health tbh because he looks completely shot to bits. Totally bereft of confidence. Hope it’s not a Dele Alli style decline for him…

Final third ninja assassin. I’m still mixed about him.

An system player that did his best and should be remembered fondly. But absolutely the right call to sell him when it was possible.
Then again, reckon he would’ve chipped in with about five goals from january and up until now which could have made all the difference.
