    ON THIS DAY 2012:

Newcastle had won five league games in a row, as an unlikely push for Champion’s League football pushed on.

After a cagey first fifteen minutes, Ben Arfa received the ball out wide. He proceeded to dance, as if possessed by the devil, leaving his fullback in purgatory before crossing in a great ball, which Ba headed off the post, with Cabaye heading in the rebound from a couple of yards out.

The second came as Cabaye ran with the ball in midfield, and then played (imo) the greatest pass of his career, carving through the Stoke backline, with Cissé bending his run perfectly, slotting past the on-rushing keeper, making it six goals in his last six games.

The Toon sealed it in the second half, as Stoke’s defence tried their best to contain Ben Arfa at the edge of the box, before Ba’s shot fell to Cabaye, who curled in a glorious effort.

The Toon were in breathtaking form, the best in the league, and seemed to be getting better with every performance. Europe was looking like a real possibility for Pardew’s surprise package team.

That pass from Cabaye for the second goal so good what a player … loved this team with Ba cisse Ben arfa as a front three Cabaye Tiote jonas in midfield

Not one player in the current squad could play the pass that Cabaye does for the second goal

*Realises pretty much everyone who played that day has retired*
