Fair play to you mate and I truly mean that, but you have lost another advantage now because their player should have been suspended for 3 games, but he’s not because you didn’t react. Man, I fucking despise the officials in the Country

There’d have to be some force to fall. There was nothing there to begin with.

Gabriel should have seen a red. Else, we are saying players can head butt each other as long as it’s not too hard.

  4. All that talk last season of Gabriel and Saliba pocketing Haaland just for him to score the potential title winning goal on their head tops.

Look at the PGMOL term that incident as “Forehead kissing”. Not a red but frowned upon as no PDA.

(Their lousy attempt at deflecting their accountability of not following the law)

Let’s be honest, we need more of this attitude in football. I can’t be the only one that’s sick of the rolling around.

  7. It’s ridiculous that if he goes to the floor it’s a red card. Why is he (and City therefore) punished for him not reacting in such a way?

  8. Arsenal fan here for what its worth, Gabi XL was stupid, he should have seen red. Im fucking relieved he wasnt, but he should have been.

And while we all loved the wrestling and fight between Gabriel and Haaland (its a feature every game), the ref let it escalate and heat up to the point that if he did send him off, he would have been criticised.

But it should have been a red and was a stupid risk on already shit day.

Everyone knows if Haaland goes down they give a red, whatever you think of the actual force involved.

He didn’t flop around and make a meal of it, and therefore no red.

As ever they just encourage people playing up to things or using the dark arts.

It’s the same principle as trying to stay on your feet when someone fouls you in the box, they officiate it so badly that it encourages doing things the wrong way.

f it’s a red if he falls over it should still be a red if he doesn’t.

You won’t ever stop players diving if refs only give fouls for players going down.

Premier league doing to best for Arsenal here. The bias is embarrassing.

  12. The commentators had a number of complaints in players going down easily and normally it’s justifiable. Those were instances of players diving and looking for a call.

But this is the other Side of the coin. A player opted to not cry and hit the ground after a clear red card able offense and was penalized for it.

I half expected Gabriel to score a late header today, but him being suspended for these next 3 games could have killed Arsenal

  13. Red card if he goes down and makes a scene, so should be red also if he stays up.

I wonder if they’ll release the audio from the VAR check on that one.

  14. The worst part about this is that it shows that the officiating is so bad that you have to dive in some cases for them to make the right decision. The incompetence of the refs is encouraging diving.

Putting on my tin foil hat, felt like the Michael Masi drama all over again. Way more exciting for an 11v11 title race fight to go down to the whistle

You’ve got to give it to haaland. Didn’t roll around or try and play it to his advantage.

The image of his shirt half ripped and then somehow manages to get a yellow himself is a perfect summary of premier league officiating. Not to mention how often arteta has refs in his back pocket.

  17. They’re lucky it didn’t impact the final result really. I’m all for the refs letting a bit more go in these high-stakes games, but Taylor really needed to get Arsenal, Gabriel in particular, under control a bit earlier.

Booking him earlier might’ve even prevented this from being a point of discussion, although he might’ve done something just as dumb regardless, seemed like his head was gone

I’ve never disliked a player as much as Gabriel. Has all the qualities of being a beast but he acts like a petulant child. Wrestles against the opposition and flops and rolls around on the floor when someone as much as touches him.

  19. Well as long as it wasn’t a minor hair pull 🙄

How did Liverpool get 11 minutes added time too today?

Gabriel and Rüdiger are the two dirtiest CB in the top 5 leagues who inexplicably continue to escape punishment for their bush league antics.

Just a shame that the ref crumbled under the pressure and weight of the moment and didnt send that dirty pos to the showers

  21. The “stay humble” mantra is memed to death but really is the difference. Haaland came to play and win. Gabriel came to antagonise and do all things underhand.

I think Arteta has had a really negative impact on Gabriel’s mentality / approach. He’s been off his game for months.
