Hato deserves a mention imo. He’s not just "doing okay for his age", he’s one of Chelsea’s best players right now. He progresses play with his passing, breaks lines, dribbles into midfield and even into the attacking third, stays calm under pressure, and defends well in 1v1s. Still things to improve, but the trajectory is clear.
In a run like this, that kind of development actually matters.

people were calling Badiashite a rolls royce defender under potter. Cole Palmer was supposed to be our best player since Hazard and he’s been useless for over a year.
Probably his best game for us so far. He’s great at carrying the ball but can also find passes between the lines. He found Enzo a few times in the first half that allowed us to bypass their midfield. But more importantly, he actually defended well. It’s still early days but he’s definitely promising. Really odd that Maresca barely played him given how versatile he is.
At 19 playing in the PL he was excellent tonight, really driving the team forward late on.

He looks waaayyyy more comfortable at CB. He’s been superb since Maresca left.
Not even trying to be a debbie downer but I don’t see the point in commending a defender during the worst stretch of defensive form we’ve seen in years. Hato is one way or another complicit to our defensive woes of late. Maybe he’s been better than Fofana, but not much better
I also still think Hato’s best position is LB.

i thought he was chelsea’s best player today, i’m not sure how much that is saying though. i said in the match thread about his forward passing from cb. a few good runs in the second half as well. definitely a player that has some promise. just gotta stick with him through mistakes that may come from inexperience
