Strongly believe it’s because of man management. Potter was probably garbage at it, and you can already tell that Nuno has a great relationship with the players. All it takes is a couple of words in their ear for them to be good.

edit: I just realised 2 of the goals that he conceded since returning was the freak last minute Sesko goal and Bernardo’s “cross”.

  2. One of the more underrated aspects of our resurgence in my opinion is the reintegration of Mads’ back into the starting lineup. From nearly transferring away to now being a mainstay in our much improved defensive line, Hermansen has had some real ups and downs.

Potter threw him to the wolves at the beginning of the season, starting him almost immediately after his signing with at most two training sessions before the Sunderland game, coming not long off a heavy injury, with a then dysfunctional backline and non-existent set-piece coaching, he was crushed under the pressure and lost all confidence two games in.

And yet Hermansen has waited, kept his head down and trained harder, before finally being given a second chance to fight back for the first choice position, of which I would say he has more than earned.

While Areola held the fort commendably during his tenure, the clear lack of aspects of his wholesale game meant we struggled in certain areas both build-up wise and on the defensive.

I’m really glad he’s earned this second choice, I very much felt for him in those early games and from the get go thought immediately starting him wasn’t the best idea. He deserves this.

  3. Biggest thing I love about him is his distribution is better than any keeper we’ve had at West Ham. He actually lets us build up from the back and not just hoof it back to the opposition.

  4. It’s insane that pretty much every signing in both the summer and winter has worked out. Fernandes, Castellanos, Pablo, Mads, Disasi, KWP, Diouf all been brilliant

  5. Glad to have ate crow on him, I said a lot of disparaging remarks about him and his play and I was genuinely worried when I saw he was drawing starts over Phonse. I think Nuno and his good man management as well as having some competent defenders in front of him has really helped
