Matt Law: Chelsea’s backroom boys are more a ‘who’s that?’ than a who’s who. | Chelsea’s players are said to like Rosenior, but there are question marks over whether they truly respect him yet.

  1. I’m sure they like him but if results and performance don’t pick up soon then we need to stop fucking about and going into another season with him.

  2. – Chelsea’s website does not have biographies of the three staff members Liam Rosenior brought to the club.

    – Those who are familiar with their work at Strasbourg insist that each have their own qualities, but none of them have any big-club experience or public gravitas

    – As a source familiar with the Chelsea squad said: “Who in that staff is Enzo Fernández, a World Cup winner, or Cole Palmer looking to for advice? Not one of them has played or worked at their level.”

    – It was striking to see Pep Guardiola in conversation with assistants Pep Lijnders and Kolo Touré in Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Chelsea last weekend.

    – Manchester United interim head coach Michael Carrick will arrive at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night with Steve Holland, Jonny Evans and Jonathan Woodgate beside him.

    – Holland is particularly well known to Chelsea fans following eight successful seasons

    – Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but Holland is just what Rosenior needs right now. He was out of work when Chelsea formally appointed Rosenior on January 6

    – On McFarlane and the rest of Rosenior’s staff, one source said: “The overwhelming feeling is that they are all nice guys. In terms of them as people, I’ve not heard a bad word about any of them. That might not necessarily be a good thing, though.”

    – Graham Potter made a similar mistake in not taking an assistant into Chelsea with him who had big-club experience and Frank Lampard had issues around his staff in his full-time stint

  3. It does feel a bit random, like why is Calum McFarlane there? He was a U21 manager and then because he did somewhat decent as an interim he’s part of the first team staff?

  4. Nice guy, but not really respected. That was exactly what they said about Potter. Feels like there’s a lot of similarities between the two tbh

Can we teach Joe Mazzula football and hire him?

Would kill for the football version of him

Whether you agree or not (I do), this sounds like some shit Matt Law made up for the sake of padding the article.

I only wanna hear from a journos sources when it’s a scoop that’ll be confirmed in due course. Otherwise it’s all hot air.

Every day that Matt Law continues to be a journalist is a further tarnish upon the profession as a whole.

  9. Callum is only there cuz he drew vs last man city. Should have just left him with the u21s
