We are 18th for xG from open play change (43%) from last season and 18th for open play xG too – 18th in table fits. 🥲
But only two team have done better (and not by a lot) which is a damning indictment of how much dead ball and set play centered PL has become. Football in general appears to have become too strategic, too robotic and less fluid. Shame really!
In my view this is a great opportunity for anyone that can play good open play football to step up and establish themselves while everyone competes to score from corners!

This does go to show that Lange was going with what he thought was the inescapable direction of travel by signing Frank along with a load of athletes who couldn’t pass. He just took it too far.
Interesting that virtually everyone is down, except for United. This season has by and large been quite boring from an attacking standpoint, interesting to see the data shows that too.
We’re not really in a position to laugh, but Liverpool’s drop is objectively hilarious given the money they splunked last summer on their attack.

That article which came out on us just recruiting for athleticism and running ability is true for lots of clubs. Data driven football isn’t always the best to look at.
