"FIFA does not have a formal policy that restricts tailgating (eating and drinking around parked cars in stadium areas)," FIFA said in a statement. "However, site-specific restrictions may be imposed in alignment with host city public safety authorities in certain venues based on local regulations. Additional fan information for all FIFA World Cup 2026 matches will be communicated in advance of the tournament."

    It’s so dumb that this is even a possibility. Tailgating is part of the fabric of American sporting events. Imagine if England was hosting and they banned pubs within a mile radius of the stadiums.

  3. In other words: “FIFA can’t do shit about you drinking outside the stadium or fan-zones. We won’t arrest you but local police will if they catch you breaking the law (underage or drinking & driving).”
