[GdS] Alessandro Bastoni is likely to sit out the Cagliari game, not as a punishment, of course, quite the opposite. It’s more about his physical and mental condition, as seen in the first half in Como, which suggests he needs a break. Chivu seems ready to give him one. Call it precautionary rest.

  1. > There is no internal rift, it’s important to make that clear. This is a common-sense assessment that Chivu has shared with the player, who has been caught in a spiral of unsettling negativity: from the penalty (at the very least a harsh one) conceded for holding Wirtz in Inter-Liverpool, a defeat that proved decisive in missing direct qualification to the Champions League round of 16, to the dive with celebration against Kalulu that stirred debate across the football world beyond mere moralism, and finally to the red card picked up in Bosnia that pointed Italy toward elimination from the World Cup. The accumulation of these episodes has overwhelmed Bastoni, who has now, in the general perception, become a perfect scapegoat for every public frustration.

What a bullshit article. He was injured recently and needs to be managed. He’s not playing because we have Como three days later, but somehow they managed to make a dramatic story out of it lol
