So it's a big challenge. It was already last season. It's going to be a challenge in the summer again."

“This club has also shown many times that this model works and we can be very successful with his model. I think we have signed very good and talented players. Now let's hope they are all fit. That most of them go into their second season in the Premier League. As I've said many times, the future looks really good, especially if we can add a few good signings after the players leaving this summer.

  1. Just lost a game because of him and we have 6 remaining games to play for and this is he go to thing after the game! CRAZY!

Like I said when this was posted earlier, it was the club’s choice to let Mo go on a free transfer. He had a year left and they agreed to let him walk, suggesting they don’t value him (either as an asset to be sold or as a member of the squad to contribute on the pitch next season).

Maybe Slot isn’t a big part of that decision, but it’s nevertheless strange for him to emphasize that we aren’t getting a fee for Salah when that was a choice the club made.

  3. We can be successful with the model, but I can’t see it happening with you at the helm. He’s been a killer of player value this season, how he uses the squad has tanked the value of a lot of the team. He needs to go. Look at Ramsay, whenever he gets mentioned, he never misses a chance to have a go at him. Then complain about injuries at RB.

  4. That interview is typical Slot, blame everyone but himself and him bemoaning our summer transfers is him creating excuses already for next season.

  5. I read rhis as “we have to sell to buy” meaning they will probably sell jurgen era players like Ali, Virg, Gomez, Gakpo(?)

because according to Orenstein, FSG support Slot, which means they will bring in his players for his boring possession style of football.

Liverpool FC will play some lackluster football. I hope i am wrong but that fluidity is a thing of the past.

We went from daylight robbery Robertson and Salah. Best price-per-value VVD+Ali. To buying Isak,Wirtz at 250m.

I don’t mean they’re bad but can you blame club not selling when you double buy 120m player who Slot don’t know how to use

  7. At least there’s the ‘adding good signing parts’

I think the model can still work just needs the right man in charge

  8. This doesn’t sound like manager under threat from the board. It looks like he’s set to stay here for another year. Same thing happened with Brendan Rogers after the disaster season of 14/15. FSG believe in giving chances, as much as I like that they willing to be patient, I believe it will bite them this time

We’re going to ruin 10 yrs of progress made under Klopp just because FSG and club officials are too proud to admit they made a mistake in persisting with Slot. Naively arrogant.

  10. Might just be me, but if youve failed to fully implement the strengths of your signings last window how are new ones going to help? The more he speaks the more he sounds like a United or Chelsea manager

It’s becoming clearer every day that the only reason Liverpool returned to glory is because of Klopp.

Because this season has made the ineptitude of the club’s board abundantly clear.

It’s incredible what Klopp did with such an inept board…

  12. Complaining that we can’t buy without selling because we’re losing 2 legends on a free when we literally bought 2 of the greatest players for a combined <40 million. We’ll be freeing up massive wages in the process too.

  13. This is an insane take. Once a player is over 30, the ability to get a transfer fee drops considerably.

With Mo, by agreeing to a free transfer, we’re saving 20+m in wages.

Andy is a bit different, but he’s leaving because of the way Slot and Hughes view him. If Slot treated him better, he’d probably extend his contract a year or two.

Lastly, maybe we should have spent a bit better last summer so we’d have more money for players we’d obviously need. These players are on contracts. We all know they’re expiring. It’s not exactly news. So if you know you’re going to need an elite RW and at minimum, a good back-up LB, maybe you should have that in the budget.

Who exactly are we selling to recover funds this summer? Chiesa? Elliott? Jones? That’s maybe 60m total considering Jones is also on the last year of his deal, Elliott basically hasn’t played, and Chiesa is cooked.

I really think we need someone with fresh eyes to look at this squad because if Slot stays, we could spend another 200-300m on players that we may or may not need.

  14. Put Arne on eBay and realise his true value.

    Starting price £0.99, no reserve.

    -oo-

This guy is going to go full blown Brendan Rodgers before it’s all said and done isn’t he?

  16. It’s been a long time since I’ve despised a manager or player mainly cause I don’t know them personally but Slot drives me mad. it’s not even about the play on the pitch, it’s this type of interviews. His arrogance and inability to not come off like a complete dunce. I can’t wait until the summer to see if we have another year of THIS!

you just bought an entire new team. Play them in the proper position to begin with maybe?

I mean, what did people expect. It’s ‘the’ model that FSG operate under. It was never going to change.

Even this summer, we sold a ton of players to fund the incoming transfer.
