  1. Thought we were gonna conquer the world man.

I thought ‘sure there are gap and we have issues, but we are still winning. Imagine when we solve all those issues. We’ll be unstoppable!’

    Never been more wrong.

Was in the Kop end for this game, atmosphere was immense, genuinely thought we were going to do it all after Salah’s goal went in.

Thought we’d have an all-timer season, man.

Genuinely depressing how wrong this season has gone.

It’s astonishing how fast we’ve speedrun through an entire era in two seasons that would normally take 2-4 to reach title winner status, then another 2-3 to fall from grace.

There was no bedding in transition period to the good, then no real transition period to the bad. Crazy.

It was an insane start to the Premiere League. Then things started going downhill, sigh. Thought we’d win the lot this year with the way we started, only for it to turn into wet fart.

  6. Fr man, feels like we’ve been through so much in that time. I also noticed yesterday after the game was over, it felt like it went on for about 5 hours. Adrenaline really does skew your perception of time.

  7. A football team is a machine of multiple parts.

So it feels realistic to acknowledge that it’s not just the failure of one part, the manager, for our current woes.

There’s transfers, ageing players, health and fitness, chemistry between players, player personalities, the academy and all the dozens of other parts I’m too ignorant to mention.

So where, if not only the manager, do we place the blame for this fairly drastic decline in quality we’re currently suffering.

Because OP is right: this is like another era.

I remember vehemently commenting “We don’t look very good” in the post match thread and getting -52 downvotes in an hour and a half.

    I was unfortunately right.

May have been the most united Anfield has been all season over something positive. I feel I’m missing a huge moment, but I can’t think of anything other than beating Real.

This should’ve been the start of Chiesa’s legacy at the club. Instead we’ve given him next to no time, we’ve denied him the opportunity to build on the energy from the start of the season. Meanwhile, Salah starting ahead of him looks exhausted and lost. I’m not saying Chiesa should’ve been given the starting spot, but he at least deserved a couple more games.

  11. I was at this game, can remember the Chiesa goal going in and the bedlam which ensued. Can’t imagine this team prompting anything near that kind of excitement anymore.

And then Arsenal fans decided this song would be a lot better with Eberechi Eze’s name instead.
