[David Ornstein]All of our information is that FSG, the ownership, the sporting hierarchy at Liverpool – they intend to stick with Arne Slot. “From the conversations I’ve had – even if there’s no Champions League football – that’s the intention.

Just have to keep telling myself this would be the public position regardless of what the plans are in the background (please let there actually be plans in the background)

What do these articles achieve? It’s not like they’ll come out and say “oh he’s getting the sack this summer” but also these articles do nothing but rile up the fanbase

  3. He is perfect yes-man for laptop boys, so they won’t sack him. Dutch BRodgers, but there won’t be anyone like Klopp available in October-November.

  4. No wonder Slot was having a laugh and a joke with Enrique after the match. Could have lost 0-8 and he’ll still be absolutely safe

I cannot take this. Are they trying to make us hate him? Because there is already a lot of personal abuse which isn’t right, just the longer this goes on the more and more toxic it becomes.

  6. Now watch City get Xabi so they can continue to dominate English football for the next ten years. Thanks FSG, very nice.

  7. Orny said Diaz wasn’t for sale last summer, he’s a great source but just because the club tell him something it doesn’t make it true.

May well be he’s staying but we’ll see in May, they aren’t exactly gonna go “yeah David, we’re chatting to Xabi, meetings next week” while a season is going on.

  8. I had been more patient than most of the fan base, but at this point there’s very little for fans to hang on to. I wonder what the vision is if they do keep him in the job

Sack him tomorrow. We deserve higher standards and quality of play. He’s lost the plot.

He gets battered every week and booed , yet he laughs and look very calm, that’s a man that knows he won’t lose his job.

So what was all this guff about FA cup tie against City and CL games against PSG being key to his future? He failed both tests spectacularly.

  12. Bollocks.

They’ve seen the empty seats and same day availability. That’s the absolute nail in the coffin for him. Supply and demand at break even was NEVER in any kind of budget / forecast. Have no insight into the corporate mumbo jumbo but if they have to discount ‘Carlsberg fab day super seats meet and greet with a player your 12 year old has never heard of’ packages it’s a full on boardroom crisis.

  13. I’m not buying it…in the states, sports teams are famous for saying “the coach has the full support of the organization”, then firing the coach hours or days later.

They could very well be planning to fire Slot at the end of the season, they just don’t want to appear to be reactionary, or to be the kind of club that has a revolving door when it comes to managers.

“Even if there’s no champions league football” is diabolical, tbh.

Stockholm syndrome & sunken cost fallacy all rolled into one

  15. I will refuse to watch it. Not because I don’t love the club, but I have a ridicolous hate for this man for gaslighting us and being completely
disconnected to what this club means. Turns out, so is the hierarchy if this decision stands. I will not throw my support behind these people

I’ve supported this club for 30 years now. I’ve never felt such a disconnect between the club and the fans in terms of what’s happening on the pitch and who’s in charge of the team. Seen a comment here saying this article will do nothing but rile up the fans.

See if we’re at the stage where even the thought of our manager staying for another season is going to infuriate the entire fan base then it’s unfathomable to me how the men in charge of slot aren’t able to see this.

It’s almost went beyond the results on the pitch for me now. Every time I see slot speak or hear one of his quotes I feel nothing by annoyance. The way he has treated some of our players is an absolute disgrace. I genuinely feel he’s one of the worst man mangers I’ve ever had the misfortune of seeing. The club journos and slot are out in full force trynna spin the narrative that this was always meanto be a transitional season and this is a level that us fans should be fine with.

I can’t remember a time I’ve felt so hopeless and numb going into matches watching this club.

  17. I have no faith in FSG.

People have been in denial about them destroying their baseball team.

People have been in denial about them because they were fortunate to land Klopp (more because he loved the history of the club than FSG). Our success has primarily revolved around that man, not FSG, not the recruitment gurus. Klopp.

The strength of the public support for Slot is worrying me that this is their real position, not just a front.

Ah yes: the vote of confidence from ownership for a struggling manager. That always ends well for the manager.

  19. Slot is getting another season, my worst nightmare comes true. No wonder he was so confident about selling players and buying new ones. I bet Jones, Harvey, Endo, Gomez, Chiesa get sold.

  20. won’t believe it till I see an extension… if this is true though the match going fans are gonna have to take things into there own hands at some point

  21. MiggeldyMackDaddy on

We are now the Boston Red Sox. Big name franchise, profitable, and chances of success

  22. GeneratedJord on

I don’t see the point. Whether you back him or not as a fan, I think the players don’t want to play for him. It’s pretty clear.
