If you look at last season where Isak flourished at Newcastle a big reason for that was Jacob Murphy at RW, I believe Harvey has a very similar profile while being a better all round player.

He runs a lot and would help out in defence he would be able to pick Isak out with his crossing and through passes.

I know this probably isn’t a very popular opinion but I think he has a lot to offer us still

Edit: Replace probably isn’t the correct word I don’t think we’ll ever replace Mo, however I do think he should be given the opportunity to play as a right midfielder/winger I believe he’d link up very well with Isak and Frimpong

I don’t think he’s at the level required. I like him a lot though. Gives his all for the shirt.

  2. Yup he runs a lot. Works hard. Is technically gifted. Thing is… if only he is able to run faster. 🥲

Honestly anything would be better than letting him be wasted in the reserves of a club he’s on loan at.

I think the club are linked with signing Diomande from RB. Eki being long-term injured I’d imagine would only make that more attractive since Slot doesn’t seem to trust reserves.

Unless we’re going to shove Frimpong up there and look at a new RB again. Idk.

I do think he’s been treated harshly. I’d like to think he’s got a future here since he is

    Not fast enough

It’s been made abundantly clear this season that Liverpool need more pace on their front line. Harvey is too slow

  5. Fantastic-Boot-684 on

Mate. We’ve seen how slow Elliott was at the wing. The only place he good at was behind the striker

  6. He gives his all for the shirt whenever he plays which is more than can be said for some players this season. I don’t think he should replace Mo but we shouldn’t absolutely have him back in squad

  7. He ABSOLUTELY deserves the chance be involved. Passionate player to have as an option out wide or central. And we seem to lack passion and will.

He isn’t good enough to become our first choice right winger though, sorry.

  8. Haha come on, I’m a big fan of Harvey and think we should keep him as he would be a useful squad player. But he will never in a million years get anywhere close to replacing mo

  9. No he shouldn’t. He’s a nice player, but one of our biggest problems this season has been speed in the wings. Not having it has crippled our attack. And you want to put a dude slower than current Mo out there?

  10. No chance, he’s a back-up for Wirtz, especially if we move on Macca, at best. He’s a 10. But if he wants regular first team football he needs to move on from the club because we aren’t going to give it to him now that we have Wirtz. If he doesn’t want a squad role, I don’t blame him, and we part ways

  11. CabbageStockExchange on

His best spot basically is what Wirtz does for us. His pace is sadly an issue.

Although if we did somehow hire Xabi perhaps him and Wirtz behind Isak in a 3-4-2-1 could be interesting. I’m not holding my breath though for Elliot to be back with us long term though

  12. At this rate

Elliott will be the only fit & experienced forward at the club

Rio needs a chance to learn and rest

Isak looks like he’s made of cornflakes

Ekitike is out for 6 months with a ruptured Achilles (ruined John Barnes, let’s hope it doesn’t ruin Hugo)

    Gakpo should be moved on

    Salah is leaving

    Wirtz is no false 9

Overall, we couldn’t finish a packet of biscuits

I’d love to have Harvey back, but he’s not LFC starter quality.

We’ll need to buy someone worthy.

  14. ChocolateMediocre754 on

He should definitely be a Liverpool player. I miss his energy and important goals.

  15. rottenapple9 on

Not to replace mo.. we need a pacey winger which he is not. Wouldnt mind elliot as wirtz understudy.

  16. Used_Yellow_4651 on

I love Harvey but he’s just not physical enough for our team , especially with dom and flo ahead of him in the pecking order

  17. Non-Normal_Vectors on

Harvey is one of my faves (I have an Elliott 67 kit), but he’s really a super sub for us. And that’s what we need, provided we had a coach who would rotate on occasion. But he’s definitely the type of person we need on the squad, his ability can be questioned, but not his heart.

  18. Due-Sherbert3097 on

For me he needs to go abroad and develop his game with consistant playing time. Hes a top quality player, but physically is outmatched in the PL and he also doesn’t have the experience at the top level to bypass that.

  19. He’s not quick enough or good enough of a dribbler to be an inside forward.

You want to bring in a lad to replace Salah who hasn’t even forced himself in at Villa?

  20. IKnowTheWayToo on

He was great during klopp’s final season. Slot should have given him a proper chance.

  21. Icy_Assumption791 on

Prefer Elliott in the middle rather than the wing just because he hasn’t got the pace.

But man I wish we had him as an option this season, he does have the creativity as we have seen in the past.

  22. AnimeBritGuy on

He is a fantastic squad player that could start 10-15 games a season and make another 10-15 sub appearances. I’d still keep him though.

  23. Elliot looked very good in preseason so was very surprised he got loaned out. He transitioned defence into attack very quickly which is something we lack massively

  24. He literally just need to be Wirtz’s sub. That’s all. The perfect player to be Wirtz’s back up really. While Wirtz could be more drifting in from the left, Harvey is more suited to drift in from the right.

Anyway, he will be way more useful as a sub player if we are still looking at Slot’s throw the kitchen sink time from 80th min onwards than anyone we have now.

  25. Sure he can deliver, i love the way he used to commit himself whenever he was given a chance during Klop’s he never disappointed

  26. Harvey is best as nr10 and In a world of nr10 we have he is third choice. But I wouldn’t mind trying with them all behind a striker. Wirtz Elliott Szobo does sound good.

  27. I would love to see how good he can get if he’s given a run as a starter. I see him more centrally, but he has the engine and the heart to be a Liverpool player. I hate that we’ve become a team that has to go out and spend hundreds of millions on the ‘best’ players. It has backfired spectacularly this year. Klopp bought a few big, expensive players (arguably none were considered the best in the world at the time he bought them) but the backbone of the team were players who would work their arses off and weren’t as technically gifted as some of our players now. We dominated world football with Henderson, Milner, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain – the list goes on. These are reliable players that would run through a brick wall for you, that has to be the model going forward. I think Elliot is in this mould. He would have one hundred percent given us more than Wirtz did last night.

  28. He should be given a chance to replace Mac Allister as an alternative number 10 when he plays that role.

We need pace on the wings

  29. Elliotjpearson on

Quality player but never felt right playing as a winger, feels most effective as a 10

  30. Fit-Specialist-2214 on

I remember Elliot being a game changing sub many times and was disappointed to see him go.

Would welcome him back to any position.

  31. The problem with Elliot is the same problem with Kelleher. Two great players that needed to start. For their own personal career and for the international tournaments.

Granted, Kelleher is always a stater for Ireland but Elliot needed the move to try for the England squad.

So many factors go into it all.

  32. Steve_Dankerson on

And Xabi Alonso should be given the chance to replace Arne Slot next season.
