For the life of me I just can’t wrap my head around this. Why are we so nonchalant when we are fouled???
I just don’t get it! Do we just feel that we don’t need our fouls called, and that we’re good enough to win without those fouls or how???
We don’t fight for our fouls to be given, but look at Atletico, the dudes swarm the ref like bees till they get the ref to halt play and go to VAR.
But absolutely none, I mean none of our fouls were even checked or considered. How do we let these things slide??
Man look at The Olmo foul, compared to the Sorloth foul. How the hell do they get theirs but we don’t? I’ll tell you why, cuz they asked for it and persisted.
I get that Flick is a chill guy and he’s probably instilled that same mentality in the players, but Goddd please, if you won’t budge on the high line, and we can’t strengthen our defense at this point, atleast just ask for your fouls to be given and be persistent.
I get we play beautiful football and we are great offensively, but to win titles we have to take advantage of whatever we can.
I just hurts that we are probably the best team in the world when we truly lock in, but we keep getting taken out by weaker teams, even though we played better football on the pitch 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️.

Idk why, I mean, Olmo did fight for it, but I have a feeling the team didn’t feel like the ref would bother listening to them, considering how they get treated in these big games.
One thing the team needs is for Yamal to learn how to dive. He doesn’t need to abuse it like Real does, but once he’s gotten past 4 people 4 times in the match, just do some outrageous move like Simeone that will make the foul look obvious, and fall. There’s no shame in getting a pen once in a while, even if Flick might not like it. What’s he going to do, bench Yamal? If every other team abuses fouls against Barca, the least he can do is a little bit of acting like Casado did vs Olympiakos
I don’t know, this one in particular seems soft and I was never expecting it to be given. The red card is a different story with a (almost) clear one-on-one with the keeper being denied. Even though I feel the contact for both the reds were soft too, I do see how neutrals would view it as denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity.
I do think there were ref calls that could have gone the other way (particularly in the 1st leg) and maybe things turn out differently, but if we study our eliminations from the last 3-4 years there are clearly repeat issues that we must address before calling out the sometimes-questionable refereeing.
Why can’t we be like Real Madrid? Why can’t we fear monger refs like they do? We just accept getting robbed.
I will say this again. Every club from madrid pays referees and VAR is the biggest joke of football.
The ref wasn’t in a well position to see the push. On TV it wasn’t very obvious. But the other angle in other hand. It was def a pen I think. vAR should called the ref.

I would like the team to stop chasing fouls, I hate how we dive and then look at the ref like they do, I would like them to play and try to win without fouls and yellows, please. This is all I ask.

Barca had plenty of chances to score and decide this game. Atletico play smart and dirty football, we all know that. Doesn’t mean that we couldn’t have been 1-4 up by the time Garcia had to make that decision. It is well possible he then doesn’t make a foul, Sorloth has to strike because of an inconing Kounde, Joan saves and we move on. But you have to score when you’ve got the chance.
Last season the lesson for this team was to play out matches and not blindly go for even more goals. This season it will be sometimes you don’t get 25 chances to score 5 times, but only 10.
The red card was a gigantic joke. It is barely a contact and even it is was Kounde is on the striker easily coming in full steam from the side.
Literally no way this is ever a red tbh, especially as he barely used any card in this game at all. Objectively if I am the ref here there are 8-10 yellow cards in this game, mostly for AM, a few for us as well.
And not let’s get started about penalties (Olmo gets manhandled by 2, grabbed and pushed, Lamine tripped twice), touches outside the box (by Garcia, actually THIS should have been the red) and 5 missed corners, again on both sides (why the fuck does the VAR not give a clear as day corner, this takes times 1s to check and decide)
Overall just atrocious, horrific reffing.

Honestly I think captain should be able to call for VAR reviews maybe allot them a quota of say 2-3 review per game on certain fouls and VAR should be taking calls on those reviews and not letting Ref have a say or something. Very much like cricket for eg.
