  1. Seems like foreign media aren’t afraid to actually call him out, but all of our own media and pundits are still walking on egg shells, making excuses and putting blame elsewhere. Watch them say he deserves more time because we played well for 20 minutes (out of 180).

I think I’m actually cracking up, with this team

We’ve got the only manager in world football, who is obsessed with Admiring PSG, instead of his own team

  3. I think Isak will become amazing for us i really do but starting him knowing he could do the most 45 mins seemed soo insane to me! when you had 2 wingers coming off playing well at the weekend! I think Slot just does lucky dips and hope for the best at this point

Julien Laurens is such a scammer.  Said on the gab and juls pod yesterday the slot should not have started Mo.  Now he should have?

  5. Awesome_bloodygenius on

Watch how none of our journalists ask him about his decision of starting Isak and leaving out Rio and Salah who would obviously have offered more

  6. Infamous_Payment4608 on

    That first leg:

    – 26% Possession
    – 0 Shots on target
    – 0 minutes of football for Mo Salah and Rio

    Embarrassing.

  7. Starts Salah instead, 50% chance he has a stinker.

    This muppet

“What’s the point of a 130m striker if he’s on the bench? “

I guess people forget Gini came on vs Barca due to a Robertson injury. A lot of it is good fortune mixed with an iron will.

So many sticks to beat slot with but this was always a lose-lose situation once things didn’t go our way.

  8. The team’s unbalanced in every part of the pitch:

Attack: There’s a lack of pace on both wings with Mo and Cody, Rio’s the only forward who can consitently beat a man, but he’s not ready to start all the games. Wirtz was supposed to be that signing who feeds the goalscorers, but he can’t thrive at the moment because he’s got no players around him who are capable of making the right runs or finding the right connections with. Our attacks break down against defensive blocks because we don’t have the personnel to penetrate them.

Midfield: Curtis, Grav, Szobo, Macca are all similarly-profiled players, not saying they haven’t got differences, but they all do similar things on the pitch. We don’t have a dog like Millie/Hendo atm, we also don’t have a Fabinho either. You can not bring any of them off the bench in place of another to offer something “different” that the game calls for, because they’re all the same profile of player. Our current midfielders are more than willing to run their socks off, but they’re being asked to do things they don’t excel at. The team NEEDS someone who’s a 6 “by trade”, and they need someone who’s a millie-type pest “by trade”, you need OPTIONS so that you can swing a game in a different direction tactically.

Defence: They’ve been carved apart so many times this season because there’s a consitent 60-yard gap between the back 4 and the last line midfielder in front of them (because all those midfielders are “doing jobs defensively” – they’re not defensive players). Our high line used to work when VVD was still a speed merchant and Konate wasn’t overweight, but it doesn’t anymore, teams are finding bags of space against us. Fringpong and Kerkez are both “traditional” wingbacks, but both have been proven largely ineffective in attacking areas because our overlap play has been non-existent.

Goalkeepers: We used to have Alisson in the startling line up, and Kelleher as an understudy. This made sense because they were similarly-profiled goalkeepers and you could swap and change them without completely chaning how the team built up from the back, both were comfortable with their feet. We now have Mamardashvili, who i think is an excellent goalkeeper, but he cannot play from the back to save his life like Alisson can. Mamardashvili is a “traditional” goalkeeper who you have to completely change your build-up play to facilitate him in the team.

  9. Pretty much. I’ve seen people saying tonight isn’t Slot’s fault and you can’t blame him yaddah yaddah yaddah…

Firstly it’s a two leg tie. So, like, we wouldn’t have been in this position if his setup wasn’t so embarrassing last week. Second, he started a man with like 30 minutes of football under his belt since December in our biggest game of the season and it was clearly fucking obvious he wasn’t match fit. If you know he can only do 45 minutes why did you bother starting him? Biggest game of the season and he makes the utterly ludicrous call to change our setup for the third time in three days and start with no wingers.

Well anyway okay you get your useless 45 minutes out of him… and then bring on Gakpo? What does Rio have to do at this point? Our best attacker at the weekend and he gets pushed aside for a bunch of players who haven’t performed all year. Salah immediately came on and looked threatening, feel like it’s the perfect game to let him cook.

And then the midfield. Grav/Mac have been abysmal all season long, Jones looked solid at the weekend in midfield… so he drops him. Okay he got injured, fine. But like, you’re deciding to start Isak who clearly isn’t fit but not Jones? I’d rather have had 45 out of him than the joke of a midfield performance we got.

His decision making all season has been baffling and tonight just summed it up. Constantly making the wrong decisions.

I think the logic must have been if you can only get 45 mins out of Isak, you play him 1st half instead of 2nd because you could end up playing extra-time

  11. Charming-Library-211 on

Tactics in the first leg were just weird

Today got the lineup wrong . Then injuries just made a difficult situation even worse

  12. He should be sacked. But not for losing to the best team in the world atm.

It should be for all the losses to the relegation battlers.

  13. Disagree, was fine with the line up and subs. This teams form was just never going to win this game and overturn 2-0 against one of the best sides.

  14. BoringPhilosopher1 on

Right so next time we play start with the lineup that conceded 2 goals in 30 mins (Salah and Rio on the pitch)?

    Hindsight works both ways.

  15. son-son-Alfodr on

From the start of the 2nd half till PSG scored their first goal, I saw a glimpse of the former Liverpool. This shows that the lads have still got it in them, we just need the right manager and unfortunately Slot is not the one.

  16. ItsMeDoodleBob on

Playing Isak to start means you don’t have to try and carry him through extra time. Its clever if you can actually make it to extra time

  17. Ok, you can 100% criticize the first leg but we had over 20 shots and 5 on goal. At the end of the day, the players have to finish a chance. There were plenty of situations that we could have and should have scored. Like him or not, his system created plenty of chances. It’s up to the players to bury them

  18. Isak is legit the worst transfer of all time in football as it stands. Wrong system, bad injury record, old. Insane . Hughes has to go.

  19. He changes everything from game to game, players look confused and don’t know what to do, there’s no consistency. Back 5 one week, 442 the next, then back to 433. He’s so scared of what the opponent is gonna do to us. Tonight was embarrassing the players resorted to lumping the ball long and fighting for scraps an still created barely anything it was pathetic.

  20. I felt the same when I saw Isak starting. Nothing against him, but the shape was completely wrong.

  21. PriorityNo1371 on

Played isak first over Salah as he was factoring the possibility of extra time and isak only being likely to be able to play 45 mins

  22. 100%.  Facts.  Needs to be fired.  He’s gotten progressively worse as a manager since even before winning the league.  Own up to it everyone!  He needs to go!

  23. Can’t stand people who keep saying he’s won us the league and give him more time, he is shit. 21 defeats in all competitions since he took over and that is shit. Anything Klopp brought to the club he has lost it all. Said we needed goals and so he put on Issak who only had 5 touches in first half and said before the match that he was only good for 45 mins. That statement makes him a sub then?
