Please just drop him for his sake, he’s probably incredibly tired and is going through a rut

  2. GuinnessGooner on

You know I really like him but he’s been piss and a liability in big games far too many times

the 2nd goal was his fault. Didn’t track his runner

Both their goals were down to players not tracking

Console me. Feel like a battered spouse who can’t leave their deadbeat partner.

If he was not in a good headspace – idk what happened to him outside the pitch – we could have not started him. Idk how to feel about this

Feel bad if this is true but man really needs to lock in. He’s a huge part of the reason why the team’s level has dropped so substantially

  7. Players have been hung out to dry with the lack of attacking instruction from the boss

I feel for the players. They look absolutely lost when we are in possession. Even kicking the ball about the back 5 was extremely difficult today and had risks

Painful end to the season for all

  8. If only there was a universe where Rice plays the 6. At least for a while to, you know, change it up a little?

  9. Arteta HAS to bench him and protect him. It’s for his own good more than anything. Gross negligence if he keeps playing him while he is so clearly spent both physically and mentally.

CONSOLE THE FANS. WHAT HAPPENED TO BRING YOUR BREAKFAST FFS. BUY US BREAKFAST THEN.

  11. Too many defensive mistakes for a team that prides itself on defense and nowhere near enough attacking play to offset any drop defensively. On the coach and the recruitment ultimately.

  12. If Arteta knew how to manage a squad he would’ve given mls a chance in midfield this season after a great first season so tha zubi could be rested sometimes

  13. Rice playing deep, while Ode and Eze are in front is the move. Rice isn’t creative enough to add to the attack but defensively solid and a workhorse. Getting another attacking midfielder on the pitch should do wonders (at the very least, it can’t be worse than our current attacking performance)

it’s a shame that zubimendi was found out. teams now know his weaknesses and exploit it.
If we’re unlucky, he’s gonna be poor next season as well unless he learns to play diferently

  15. He spent his La liga days passing at will, now seems he’s following instructions, whatever is being told to these players they seem to play the safest risk averse football possible which seems to not work when opponents do the Pep mid press, our coach has been found out badly and he has no answers.

I will be shocked if Sporting don’t do the same.

  16. He is just playing by instruction from manager. Not his fault that our manager is stupido with tactics and missmanagment of players.

  17. The move to a double pivot has killed what he’s told to do as Rice is always in the same space.

Changing the system to ease defensive duties on Eze has really fucked it. It’s why there is a massive gap between rice/Zubi and whoever plays behind Gyokeres. Whereas before Rice and odegaard covered that area of the pitch.

We need to go back to what were doing the beginning of the season.

He’s also clearly struggling with the amount of games he’s played and not getting a winter break.

This was during Gyokeres pen. Way before the 2nd goal where he failed to do his job, again.

So it seems he’s got his head so far up his ass the whole game.

I blame Arteta for under utilising Nordgard.

His team management and rotation is fucking piss poor.

  20. The United mistake shattered his confidence. He was playing well until that moment but he’s been timid ever since

  21. He’s been a disaster for months unfortunately. A midfield is nonexistent. Something has to give.

  22. Genuinely what’s wrong with Norgaard? The refusal to give him a chance has been criminal. Any opportunity he’s been given, albeit mostly against lesser opposition, has always been impressive.

  23. Maybe blame the guy in charge who makes a 1 goal lead seem insurmountable and who’s entire gameplan is to shithouse a 1-0 lead and sit back.

Mistakes and conceding are part of the game.

  24. We have to drop him imo. Push rice to 6 and have ode and eze next to each other.

We are losing a lot of progression with him in the squad. His lateral passes are not it. Even today, he had to play Martinelli in 3-4 times and he chose the side option.

  25. Victor was screaming at him during the game – looked furious. Made for quite uncomfortable viewing but you have to sympathise when he’s in acres of space and Zubi dithers til he’s closed down.

I’m not going to start blaming him for today as the whole team was a shambles but there has to be a consideration of dropping him, even if it’s just to let him rest. Think we all forget he’s new to the league and the intensity of all the competitions.

The question is if this was a onetime thing during this match, or if he has been struggling mentally for some time, which is the reason he has fallen off so hard.

If he had been struggling for some time, and Arteta has known about, but kept starting him despite it being glaringly obvious it’s affecting his onpitch performance, then this is on Arteta for thinking a 60% zubi is better than Norgaard.

Or you know, if we actually had offensive midfielders healthy, play Rice as the 6 (seeing as we either go long or need our 10s/strikers to drop deep to play out from the back anyway) and run 2 offensive midfielders that can create something.
