Chelsea fans, I have a question, would y’all take Jan Paul Van Hecke this summer as a new defensive option? Been seeing reports from a few outlets this morning saying we’re interested in signing him. Not surprised because we love doing business with Brighton.

What actually is the reason we love ourselves a Brighton player?
Seems like a good defender if he can play how Rosenior how wants him to play. I thought we are valuing experience over potential too right?

He’s a good player, at a good age, and he has the potential to keep improving. Depending on the fee, it seems a very good option.
He also knows a fair few of the players already. Including Colwill, which could help massively. Though he reportedly fell out with J.Pedro? Depending on how bad that was, might be something to note
Apparently he had a physical altercation with Joao Pedro last year, not sure if that’s a deal breaker though

I thought he was quite impressive in the UCL first leg

Is he a needle mover with big experience that can marshal our backline ? Also no

I watched a lot of Brighton games at the start of the season and if we actually get him, he will not add much to team. He is at the same level as Chalobah who we criticize a lot.
He makes at least 1 mistake per match and can be unfocused for 20 min straight in a match. I still have in mind that mistake he made against Man Utd. to give them their second goal in the match.
Miles clear of everyone we have.

Unironically will probably be the best possible option we have. He’s a decent, prem proven centerback that’s already miles clear of Fofana, Chalobah, Sarr, Tosin, and very possibly will be better than a recovering Colwill. He’s on the younger side, which makes BlueCo more likely to go for him (I honestly don’t think he’s young enough for them though) and he’ll probably only be around 30 to 40 million.
However, BlueCo will ignore this somewhat cheap good centerback and spend a hundred million on some twelve year old.
2 better options in prem itself: Murillo and Senesi
But again anyone would improve our backline, even Colwill returning with a year out
