I’m really sorry for Virg because he’s suffering a lot while also being run into ground in his 34. And Konate except few good games (I know what he went throught this season) was really really bad. But I think players gave up on Slot and they don’t want to work under him anymore. I believe they want him out as much as we supporters do. You can be fantastic player but when you are working with clueless manager and you can see it, your motivation is gone.

Sorry not having this. Virgil has been shite himself albeit not as bad as Konate but he’s been absolutely stinking for this latter run of games from Bournemouth to now. He literally conceded a penalty doing a stupid tackle to city and came out and said the group gave up.

  2. why blame konate when it was his first time playing in a back 3? why not blame the manager for using that tactic which no player has played before

  3. Mysterious_Bad_3351 on

Also not to mention there’s literally no midfield to help him and cover for him this is reminiscent of the 22/23 season where he was exposed due to the midfield being so shit

  4. The absolute lack of cover at centreback is appalling

Yeah they bought Jacquet& Leoni (ACL might hamper his career) – both like 18-20

But after Konate (disaster this season, magnificent tackle last night – then tries to give PSG another chance of a penalty with the push)

    There’s nobody

Poor Joe Gomez has literally given his knees to the club

& actually played well at left centreback in a 3

But he’s just a squad/back up player now (still sellable)

there’s nothing coming through the youth system (Wellity Lucky & Nallo ain’t the answer)

Liverpool need two 23-26 year old experienced athletic centrebacks now

Get them in first, give both Virgil the protection & the competition to secure Liverpools defence

Inacio & van de Ven (both international centrebacks, experienced, calm, physical & van de Ven especially has ridiculous pace)

Then find a DM & a mobile midfielder that can control & run a midfield alongside Gravy in a 3

I like Kamara (Villa) & Wharton (both)

Selling Mac Allister, Chiesa, Gakpo, Gomez

Konate & Endo are both out of contract
(Let Konate go, not worth renewing)

  5. That’s back 5 reminds me of Rodgers going to a back 3 when we were in a poor way. It’s something different, but we’re not training all season to do that. It’s just a shot in the dark.

  6. The thing is, Klopp layed a psuedo back 3 with trent and Andy playing further up and would drop a midfielder like hendo or fabinho. Slot did as well last season with grav. Tactically the guys know how to positon with 3 back.

The main problem is the massive gaps between the lines means one pass or one dribble turns into a fast break. I dont care how good your defenders and GK are, you will absolutely concede by not tightening up the lines.

Everyone is playing crap. When that happens, the manager has to take the blame

  8. I’d be ok if we just avoid being hammered at Anfield and just quietly close the door on our way out this season. It isn’t getting any better from here on.

  9. I literally said this in the live match discussion last night at half time on here and it got down voted 🤷‍♂️

Konate should be let off on a free. He’s either done or simply half ars*%ing it & not bothered anymore(might have already agreed terms elsewhere). VVD is past his prime & can’t be expected to shoulder everything given how weak the midfield is. The whole team is a shambles really & gives off post Ferguson Utd vibes.

I just can’t get on board with this level of punditry. The flashy studio set, the three-piece suits, the over-complicating of post-match analysis.
Football matches do not need to be analysed in such microscopic detail by people who look like they are guests at a wedding.

Nah, I’m not having it. It goes without saying that VVD is one of the best players in the history of the PL, but he has been absolutely shocking this season. Salah has been the same. When things aren’t going well, you expect your veteran players to step up, and VVD just hasn’t done that in recent months. Everyone makes mistakes, but when he gives away a penalty or makes a terrible error leading to a goal, you see him either questioning the officials or looking for a teammate to blame. These aren’t the actions of a leader.

Honestly most of our defensive issues come from the refusal to play a proper DM in the proper position.

I keep seeing Grav pushed so high up trying to progress the ball. There is NO cover for the defenders.
