From what I’m reading, there’s considerable gap between what Barça are prepared to offer for Basto, and how much Inter value him at.
As of right now, Barca has taken a step back to evaluate everything, and Basto is concentrating on ending the season well and winning the Scudetto.
Adding a counterpart had/ has been proposed by agents, but consensus is missing. In an ideal world, Barca would offer players surplus to them (Christensen, Garcia, Torres etc.). Inter either don’t rate them,or their wages don’t make them appealing. Inter would like real gems (Bernal, Gavi etc.), who Barca will not offer.
From what I’m reading, the name both might agree on is Gerard Martin. Basto arriving would relegate him to back up, and Barca would rather sell high, than see his value diminish. His sale will also help Barcawith the 1v1 threshold that La Liga imposes ( bane of barca transfer spending in recent tears).
For Inter also, he’s a very interesting prospect. His combination of age, height, technique, and the ability to play both positions make him intriguing for Inter.
Martin is a 23yo who started as a lb, but was moved to cb by Flick. Results were encouraging. This is also the reason why Barca want to concentrate on Basto. They realise that the development from the back isn’t great without a natural left footed cb who can pass. Basto is the best around.
For Barca, it would mean upgrading a really important position, and for Inter, it would mean a big plusvalenza, and an interesting piece to develop for the future.

Hell naw if we want someone very young for Lcb just get Muharemovic
Personally, I do not see this deal going through without a pure cash offer. I would much rather have the cash to get whatever player we want, rather than be pigeon holed into a potential Barca system player. Don’t get me wrong, he has some potential but he barely plays for them.
