Tottenham’s focus on maximizing profitability has led to an underinvestment in a squad needed to win. Manager churn, roster turnover, and subsequent lack of on-field identity/performance are a result of this financial decision, not a cause of it. There is a clear gap between Spurs and the rest of the Big Six.

Should Spurs manage to stay up, a clear pivot in the club’s financial strategy is needed.

Full analysis linked below, but quick overview of the drivers behind Tottenham's decline:

  • Prioritizing Profit Creates Competitive Disadvantage
  • Player Recruitment Strategy Stresses Value over Immediate Impact
  • Wage Structure is Not Big Six Caliber – Resembles Big Six Chaser Pack
  • High Debt Load Limits Ability to Shift Away from Cost Control Strategy

  1. I’m not a fan of De Zerbi on the surface, but if we can actually stick with someone with an ounce of talent (looking at you Frank) and make astute signings then we have all of the resources to compete at the top. Here’s hoping this is the one.

Edit: obviously we do need a cash injection from somewhere as well too. Or just sell, but that’s not gonna happen.
