Fucking awful decision to send him there when he could be getting minutes in a title run.

He should’ve just stayed until the end of the season, would’ve been a big help with our RCM injury crisis

  3. I suppose this has been an interesting “character development” loan for Ethan but very disappointing in many other ways. Just 3 starts in the league, and a grand total of 0 matches where he’s played even 80 minutes.

In hindsight this has been bad and I’d have preferred to have kept him if it was gonna go this way. But only time will tell. Maybe this experience will sharpen him further and he’ll be stronger next season. Fingers crossed.

  4. Beye is a joke. He won’t last a year in Marseille. His time in Rennes was disastrous, he thinks he’s a top manager when he’s just mid

There’s just something niggling me that Nwaneri won’t make it at Arsenal and will be sold in the next couple of years for big profit. Hope I’m wrong.

This doesn’t put Ethan in a very good light. Sent out on loan, then not getting game time and told he needs to adapt to the “intensity” of a very weak league.

Maybe speaks to his application levels and why he isn’t currently at the club?

Let’s not forget Serge Gary’s year under Tony Pulis.

Sometimes, managers just don’t have a fucking clue about the players they have on loan.

Think it’s a diplomatic way of saying I don’t fancy him in my plans, which is fair I mean he’s not the one who was there when they loaned him. At best he’s given more than a few fair chances to prove his worth in the new system otherwise it’s not right to keep the kid ostracized without giving him a fair shot

Reeks of a manager scapegoating a player who is leaving in a few weeks anyway to establish authority with the other players

he did adapt to the league well before beye came in, this is just manager-speak for ‘ethan can go kick rocks’

  11. What a stupid thing to say. Arsenal are 100 times the club Marseille is right now, I’m sure Ethan knows exactly what their stature is. Pretentious twat of a manager.

    > Replacement for Mason

I keep saying this guy is a winger (even though he grew up playing CAM).

Goal against City was world class.

Max is more like Kaka. He can be a CAM easily.

  13. This coach got sacked from Rennes just a few months ago by the way

Wouldn’t trust everything he says blindly, Ethan won some MOTM awards in the CL and PL before 18 but apparently he’s not physical enough for Ligue 1

Trust me when I say this, Beye is a bum. There is a reason why he lost the dressing room with multiple clubs. I hope that Nwaneri will get some game time but I am not too optimistic it about it.

I met Habib Beye recently at a Senegalese restaurant in Marseille and he said something similar when I asked him about Ethan.
I asked him (politely) why Ethan was playing more often and he said that he needs to work harder.
Arteta has also said something similar in the past so once he steps up his work rate, he might eventually find a place in our squad, he’s good enough.

The meltdown in the comments is kind of funny. I bet none of you have actually seen Marseille play. Ethan will do well, give him time.

Is Saliba’s the only loan that’s worked out for us?
Sad to see a wasted year in a short career. Luck is a factor you need to seize it: Nwaneri was going to be coached by de Zerbi, ends up with another manager who won’t give him a look in…
Instead of being a revelation as we had hoped this is a disaster. Better loan him out to an English club next but it looks like a steep slope to Arsenal even as a sub. Hopefully does better than Vieira but i won’t be holding my breath.

  18. Very unfortunate turn of events on what seemed like a good decision at the time. Another loan next season to lower PL club would be ideal

Wish we sent him to a club where he’s a guaranteed starter. What he needs is game time, not to be fighting for his place. He could have done that at Arsenal.

  20. The reaction here is typical of our fanbase to be honest, so insecure. Every constructive criticism towards our club or one of our own players from outside we treat it as a personal attack.

Maybe Ethan needs to do more, that’s also maybe why Arteta shipped him to one of the most hostile environment in Europe? For those criticizing the intensity of Ligue 1, if I remember correctly Saliba never played a minute in the EPL before his break out season where his partnership with Gabi nearly led us to a title?

Can we recall him? I’d seriously rather him ride the bench as a sub. Marseilles is a joke.

  22. Every fucking time man. In any case it costs them to leave him out so this has to be an extremely strong position to commit to.
