Before you come for me in the comments, hear me out.

Pelé. R9. Ronaldinho. Zico. Socrates. Falcao. Roberto Carlos. Cafu.

That's the bench competition. Not some random pub quiz — these are actual World Cup winners and Ballon d'Or holders fighting for 11 spots.

Neymar — Brazil's ALL-TIME top scorer with 129 goals — doesn't get in. And honestly? It's not even close.

We broke it down position by position in a full podcast episode:
https://youtu.be/X3obPFv5at8

The Garrincha omission is the one that actually hurts though. Man was born with bent legs and still cooked everyone at the 1962 World Cup.

My Brazil XI:

Taffarel

Cafu — Aldair — Lucio — Roberto Carlos

Falcao — Zico — Socrates

Ronaldinho — R9 — Pelé

Fight me.

Drop your Brazil XI below. If you include Neymar you have to explain who you're dropping. Good luck with that.

  1. AI slop + Pele played almost exclusively in central positions throughout his career

  2. No disagreement. The country puts out a lot of talent and there’s only 11 spots. No need to watch the podcast.

  3. It’s not that tall a hill tbh, and I hope you’ve got enough seating for all of us.

  4. Of course he doesn’t he is a LW and there is Ronaldinho, even if he was a CAM there is Kaka and if a ST you have Ronaldo and Pele

  5. As a brazilian there’s no way in hell he’s in my all time XI, most of us agree with this take. Anyone who says otherwise probably lacks Brazil ball knowledge

  6. Neymar produces a lot more than Ronaldinho on the wings and we know for a fact he can carry Brazil on his shoulders. At most its a 50/50 between him and Dinho as a player in general but on the wings Neymar is simply a lot better

  7. Didi in the midfield.
Garrincha always. Go see the 2nd title of Brasil and understand what happened.
I accept Cafu but Carlos Alberto and Djalma Santos were very good.

  8. no one is fighting for neymar on brazil’s best 11 of all time except neymar and his pr agency

  9. I dont think anyone in their right mind would pick Neymar. He’s got probably the two greatest strikers of all time in front of him.

No need to die my friend, he doesnt make the bench. Hes not done anything in nearly a decade

  11. The difference between Neymar and Ronaldinho isn’t that big, in my opinion. Ronaldinho is more legendary, he defined a generation, while Neymar was overshadowed by Messi and Ronaldo. Some might argue that Ronaldinho won the World Cup and that’s it, but he wasn’t the best player—he was behind Rivaldo and Ronaldo in the 2002 World Cup. So, for the national team alone, if that’s the only focus, Garrincha is above him. But if we’re talking about football and impact on a generation, Ronaldinho is acceptable, though it’s debatable.

His NT record is so inflated/overrated due to all the friendlies. People forget he has never won a proper title with Brazil, let’s see if Vini can do better
