  1. The last manager we had who gave academy players a shot was poch?

Our loans are bad for the most part as well, it’s a shame.

With the injuries we’ve had this is shocking.
Wasn’t youth part of Frank’s remit also?

Gray, and Bergvall will count as a HG/Club trained in the future. It’s obviously not the same as giving academy players a chance (and we definitely need a better pipeline into the first team), but we do have young quality players who get a lot of time on the pitch.

  4. This is the BS trap of underperforming teams. Results are poor, can’t take a risk on young players, results worsen, etc. Young players have a level of determination and energy that is exactly what is needed when the culture in your dressing room is shot. Poch figuring this out was the defining point in our club over the last decade.

De zerbi was pretty good with youth players at brighton so hopefully this will change

Junai looked really good vs dortmund i have no idea how he didnt pkay earlier

Olusesi also looked good when he got chances

  7. Shocking.

Considering our injury crisis and position in the league. You’d think it would be a good opportunity to give some minutes to the academy players.

Instead we’ve stuck with the idea of playing players out of position and players who are simply not putting in 100% week in week out.

An academy player would be 100% commited by trying to prove that they are 1st team ready.

Tudor gave some minutes against Madrid and they looked more than capable.

Hopefully RDZ gives youth a chance.

I been saying this all year. Either our academy has been signing wrong players, just like first team, or just not being trusted and brought forwards.

  9. The fact that we’ve had so many injuries, so many league games, the fact that our U21s won the Premier League 2 just a year ago, the fact that our best player and talisman had come from the academy, the fact that we’ve had a dearth of quality in the squad, yet our academy boys get no play is fucking shameful.

And this is on Ange as much as it is on Frank.

Whoever is the manager finds opportunities for the highly rated prospects in the first team to get minutes. City do it, United do it, the scum do it.

Instead we ship them out on loan where more often than not they end up being fringe players. Moore is the exception but there’s countless others that go the down the path Devine is currently on sadly.

That, or our youth are just aren’t that good at which point I’d be asking questions of the academy.

  11. These are always so stupid because if you have a single starter all year that’s from your Academy you end up minimum third.

This is shocking and I’m disappointed by it but being devils advocate, aren’t the best of our academy kids that would’ve actually made a difference being around the first team this year on loan. Even if we’ve fucked up where we’ve sent them on loan the most promising ones are on loan aren’t they

Ours are simply just not that good. This sub is completely delusional about the quality of our youth players.

  14. My immediate reaction is that this is shocking, we definitely could have brought in a few players to fill some gaps.

Our U21 team is not good though, maybe some of those players just aren’t ready. The U18s are looking great.

Anyway we most definitely could have given some minutes to these lads when the injuries were at their worst.

  15. This can mean one of two things.

We are disregarding the young talent we have.

    Or

Our academy is not producing quality.
