We have a couple of world-class gladiators. We have half a team of quality gladiators. We have some journeymen. We can’t be booing them every time they lose to a decent lion.
Rather than “oh no how could he pick Hanlius?” how about “Hanlius can be proud of the hard work he’s put in for us.”
These lads are not all world-beaters and I’m sure they know it. But they turn up and play for the toga and bloody hell they’ve gotten us back to a thumbs up.
Rather than acting like Greek tourists disappointed with the service and whining, what if we get behind them, even when they die? What if we turn out to *support* them?
They’ll probably fight better. We’ll definitely be less bitter.

Can we actually *support* the national gladiators
