John Obi Mikel on Liam Rosenior’s appointment: There’s something that is not quite right with his appointment. He’s trying to speak in a certain way. He comes in press conferences, he’s enforcing his authority by force. He wants to do it but it’s not natural.

  1. – Every time I see him speak, it’s like he’s saying, ‘oh my team, oh my players, oh the way, I want to see my players’. You don’t do that. It’s like you’re trying to force yourself with the authority, you want to say, Okay, this is me. I want to have control. We all know you don’t have control.”

    – on Enzo’s transfer statement: For him to come out and make such a statement after we’ve been disgracefully dumped out the Champions League wearing the captain’s armband is not good. No player is bigger than the football club. If he’s had enough, put your hands up and f*ck off. And we move on.

    – “The culture, the DNA of the club which Roman Abramovich instilled in every single person assiciated with Chelsea was winning; winning trophies, being successful. What is the objective of these new owners?
    We want to win titles.”

    – That’s all we know, being successful. Winning games, competing to win the Premier League, to win the Champions League. That’s who we are, that’s our DNA. Since these owners came on board, I don’t know what the objective is.”

    – I think it’s high time they take responsibility and accountability for the decisions they have made at the football club. Since they took over, the decisions they’ve made have not been good for the club, whichever way you look at it.”

  2. Extremely weird how people are about Rosenior. People are constantly attacking Rosenior acting as if he is playing a character and they know nothing about the guy. Say he isn’t doing a good job and tell us why.

way too much attention seeking from Mikel in the last few years but i agree. from the start Linkedin Liam has been speaking like that one time Potter clearly got instructed to “go nuts” and started swearing and hyping himself up. it just came off as cringe and fake. same here. it’s like he took a few “leadership courses” and practices what to say in front of a mirror

but it’s not much of a discussion on reddit where you point out someone’s shitty body language and poor attitude and you get slapped with the WE GOT A BODY LANGUAGE EXPERT HERE or CLEARLY HE TOLD YOU every time

Almost everything Mikel says is bs. I don’t think he has any place on talking about how others speak. Especially someone still in the game. It’s also so hypocritical to talk about enzo’s statements while accusing our current manager of being disengenious. I loved Mikel as a player but we don’t need the kind of ‘legends’ that Man U has.

Obi is spot on here. Everything is a joke at this club currently. The owners are clowns, the manager is overwhelmed, the players are ambivalent, and the fans are hostile.

    Clearlake ownership has been disastrous.

People will complain about Mikel but he very rarely says anything wrong.

He’s always pushed for quality, experienced players for this squad: newsflash that’s what we need.

He always advocated for an experienced manager and stability: newsflash that’s what we need.

  7. I remember when Liam joined Chelsea, most of the fans believed that he was the right coach for Chelsea, because he spoke very clearly and confidently.
I know what the project is: the owners want to build Brighton 2.0, develop players and sell them. They don’t like football.

  8. Mikel really rattles some of you, eh? You’d think we’d be happy to finally have an unabashedly pro Chelsea pundit who doesn’t kiss BlueCo ass but all I see is people bitching about him.
