    **From the article:**

    * Manchester United are facing a dilemma over the future of Andre Onana, sources have told ESPN, with the goalkeeper’s wages set to spike if they qualify for Europe.
    * **With no obligation or option to make the move permanent, the Cameroon international is set to return to Old Trafford this summer.**
    * The deal with Trabzonspor was facilitated, in part, by a significant reduction in Onana’s wage at United after missing out on European qualification for the 2025-26 campaign.
    * with United on course to reach the Champions League, Onana’s salary is set to return to its original level.
    * **Sources have told ESPN that there are concerns at United that the increase will make it more difficult to generate interest in the 29-year-old over the summer.**
    * **It leaves the club facing the possibility of paying a portion of Onana’s salary if they want to negotiate another move — either permanently or on loan.**
    * **Sources close to Onana have told ESPN that his preference is to re-join the United squad for pre-season training and fight for his place.**
    * Onana’s representatives are expecting talks with the club before the end of May.
    * **Sources have told ESPN that the club could look to sign another goalkeeper in the summer to replace No.2 Altay Bayindir.**

Literally every united contract has a reduced salaray when they miss out on europe, so naturally every salary is going to rise/go back to it’s normal level if they qualify.

  3. This isn’t exclusive to Onana. All the squad will get pay rises if they have a Champions League clause in their contract (which they all probably do). Onana seems most egregious because he almost singlehandedly eliminated us from the Champions League last time we were in it, and then complained about the wage drop.

But he won’t be here next season, and we won’t be paying his full wages. He’ll be sold or loaned out to a team that covers a good portion of that money. It’ll be a drop in the bucket compared to being able to shift the wages of Case, Rashford and Sancho.

  4. Everyone at the club and most of the fanbase are aware of the contract based on clauses and the media ran wild with the reduced contract articles recently due to missing out on European football. André’s situation doesn’t change, it is just bad recruitment decisions and wage management from the previous team at the club. United will probably cover the contract to make the potential transfer work or it will be a Sancho situation with continuity of the loans until the contract is up to reduce wage cost. Let’s wait and see, as no one truly knows at the moment.

He’s the family member that gets to attend the wedding that no-one talks to.

  6. He is on decreased wages now (120k), it will just be back to the 170k when we first signed him. This is a big problem though because his contract expires in 2028. We can either pay him off (16m for 2 years) and sell him for 10-15m to compensate or loan him somewhere and pay huge part of his wages and use loan fee to cover loss. Whichever allow us minimal loss.

    Thanks Ricard Arnold and ETH

He wanted his wages to go up anyway despite *not* qualifying for Europe, in part because of him. And now his wages are going up because of European qualification, despite him paying no part in it.

    Brilliant.

  8. Ten Hag and Onanw aren’t even here yet still haunting us

  9. Very standard for all clubs. Unnecessary sensationalism. You would have 2 or 3 players like this at all top clubs.

Every day I wake up and remember this abomination of a keeper is still officially a United player makes me sick.

    Get him out!
