For Me Rio Played Good Watching the match,like that he got the number 17 aswell,but it did look like he was struggling a bit in his own age group (that or the Portugal defenders were playing rough) even doh he mixes up grown adults at senior club level.What do you guys think 🤔?

What I think is that Slot should give him some more game time
He was double marked the entire game which made things difficult for him but he also tried to do everything alone in the first half which added up to a really bad first half. Second half was better. He was passing and using one-twos to get into space. Still got swarmed whenever he was on the ball.
It’s clear that Portugal were worried about him specifically. He’ll need to learn to deal with that level of attention better. Ironically he looks like he’s used to playing with players who are better than him and working in the space they create with their presence rather than being the best player. That can come from moving up to senior team training very early.
I don’t see anything to be worried about. He’s just young and inexperienced, but clearly good enough to warrant a special plan against him.

When he works out the balance of running at the man, playing little one twos to get into space and then improves the end product he’s going to be special no doubt. My own personal worry for Rio is the formation I want us to use going forward doesn’t have wingers.
