After PSG paid Neymar's release clause, we made 3 signings that had serious consequences of the club, although one stands out as the most unreasonable one, even without hindsight. Dembele's signing was pretty reasonable, a young, electric winger with tons of potential that would wind up winning everything with PSG, it's a shame that he lacked discipline with us at a time when we had Valverde who was poor not only tactically but even worse at managing egos. Coutinho was great CAM that suffered due to us having a horrible coach that decided to switch to a formation that made him a redundant signing.

But the signing of Griezmann was the most embarrassing thing in the world, to this day I don't understand why we went through with his signing after HE MADE A 30 MINUTE DOCUMENTARY WHERE HE MADE FUN OUT OF US FOR TRYING TO SIGN HIM. It was honestly the most embarrassment I have ever felt as a fan, it was the ultimate cuck move to pursue him, I'd do anything to go back in time and slap some sense into our board for even thinking about him after the documentary. Not to mention he was racist with Dembele.

  1. Not only did he not perform but he was arguably the most rude to the club

Can agree to this because in hindsight,Dembele has the potential of an exciting winger but the injuries just took him down. Coutinho done bits at Liverpool so signing him to be our CAM/LW is reasonable but it doesn’t turned out well. Griezmann on the other hand is just plain stupidity because he’s not a striker like Suarez and just would clash with the plays when attacking. This isn’t even the 2018 Fortnite Griezmann so it doesn’t make sense at all

Fully agree. It made 0 sense at the time of purchase and the salary we gave him was absurd

  4. Totally agree with you. Till now I still don’t get why we signed Griezmann. Besides that 30- minute video where he basically humiliated us, he also rejected Barca during the Pep time when he was at Sociedad. Plus paying a rival 130M for a 28 year old was just a terrible business approach. We could hv gotten Dybala, Di Maria basically any left footed attacker in those days for less. Dembele’s purchase was reasonable and smart, just not worth 105M, plus he came during the FC Amigos times where the whole team lacked discipline so no one really mentored him. Coutinho was supposed to replace Iniesta, however, he ended up being shoved to the left where he didn’t really shine. I was hoping his moved would have worked out

  5. Tbf they all sucked but Coutinho was a bit worse imo. We paid like 135 mil for Coutinho and we got basically nothing from him. Griezmann at least scored a bit more than Coutinho.

Bartomeu can suck it for signing these bums and destroying the club.

Couthino was the worst, worst performance came against us when we loaned him to bayern….we were playing so good vs bayern in 2020, just losing 5-2, I thought we could comeback from a bad losing position to a slightly less bad losing position like 5-3 ,but instead, couthino comes on, against us, gets 3 g/a in 20 mins and makes is ultra humiliating,8-2 for us…..if we didn’t loan him we might have not lost 8-2, and we probably would have won 2019 UCL too by just not buying couthino (because we bought coutino, we gave liv money 130m, they took that money bought alisson+vvd and thrashed us out of Anfield….if couthino never left then would they buy alisson+vvd, would we face alisson+vvd who won them that tie?)

  7. Griezmann is like if we sign now Nico Williams but by paying much more money than before.

I see your argument, and actually agree with most of it.

However I wouldn’t call Griezmann the worst of the three (that goes to Coutinho easily) but rather the most illogical.

We would have probably won UCL 2019 by just not buying couthino (forget about buying his alternative…like doing nothing and not buying anything, that was enough to increase the chances to win 2019 ucl)

And we probably wouldn’t have lost 8-2

Lmao it’s Coutinho by far. Calling Valverde a horrible coach for not fitting in a redundant signing into his system is stupid. Valverde already had his system in place for 5 months before Coutinho came and at that point we were 9 points clear in the league and unbeaten. Coutinho was never going to work in a system with Messi and he scored two against us on loan in our most embarrassing defeat in recent memory while being our record signing. Meanwhile Griezmann actually performed decently despite not being very compatible with Messi and helped deliver the 2021 CDR.

He won us a trophy. That copa del rey was all him. Just watch the matches and his stats in copa that season

  12. No. Still Dembele. That missed goal vs Liverpool is still haunting me to this day. We lost so much money on him, a CL, and then he left only to score against us in the CL.

Coutinho was the worst and it’s not even close. Dembele had a resurgence under Xavi and helped us win the league, Grizzy helped us win the CdR, but what did Coutinho do? Nothing.

Who cares all three of them were trash signings. How much money did we waste, 400 million?

  15. This was a no win for any Barca president, regardless of what one thinks about Barto. Flushed with cash, an universal superstar in Messi, declining all world talent around Messi, what do? Barto and company went ham on super expensive signings and failed rather well at it. But who’s to say any other transfer would have worked better, the big issue being subservient to Messi. How do get players to fit around a player like Messi? We saw it happen with once in a lifetime La Masia graduates, with generational talents in Suarez, Neymar, and Rocketic. But then what?
